Frontier was literally the most balanced entry thing since dyrl.
Plus and Zero go too far into only the military stuff and 7 with music.
Frontier just seems like it leans more into idol stuff on the surface, because modern idol aesthetics are way flashier and in your face, but it is definitely far more balanced.

It did seem to put the franchise on ice since I recall them announcing the next Macross series was in the works right after Delta ended, but here we are years later with no sign of the new entry. I guess they're wrapping up the Delta movies first and then it can finally be buried and forgotten.
