One Piece

Do you think Oda has handled the timeskip well or has he fallen into the same trappings as other mangaka? Think hard about the treatment of the SH crew in particular.

Wano fucking sucks!

>Think hard about the treatment of the SH crew in particular.
you seem to already have formed your own opinion on this and are just looking to reinforce your confirmation bias
get fucked

I don't know. I don't think any other mangaka is dealing with the same thing he is and the Time skip was meant to shift the focus. As far as the crew is concerned, most are fine, some even better. Chopper and Robin could use some more moments. The final arc and their respective conclusions will tell how well he really handled them overall though.

I think there's too many characters now and they each get one panel of screen time so they seem kinda useless or asspully. For example, big mom and Marco were fighting, and big mom got the upper hand and grabbed him for perospero to shoot with his arrow. Peros was attacked by the minks, so big mom just let's Marco go and says "I'm busy"??? What the fuck is that?? When she threatened katakuri for stepping in against luffy, she lets this slide and runs away for luffy or whatever? It's really strange. Both characters are wasted in this exchange. It wasn't even a real fight.

Franky gets his cool moment running over big mom's face but she should have been able to expect this. Whatever I suppose, it looks funny and Franky is based anyways, but maybe EVERY character should get a good moment like this. Usopp gets his head bashed in and nami says her pirate king thing. Chopper "figured out the antidote" with no real proof besides just suddenly telling us that he did it.

I dunno, just seems like a bunch of random stuff is happening for no reason. The ice yeti disease is fucking pointless too. Just gives everyone a retarded reason to chase apoo and zoro waits to one-shot him for no reason. Why wait??

Oda coined an arc formula and lazily sticks to it. There are positives to doing something like that but they always come at the detriment of the story.

It's not like One piece got really really bad after time skip the problem is that Oda has repeated the formula so much and for so long without actually advancing the story people began noticing one piece is actually not as good as they thought.

do the sh really need that much more character development? there are at least 300 chapters left and most of the sh need 1 maybe 2 moments to end their character arc, it makes sense they would concentrate on other character if the show wants to have something different to say .

in WCI Oda just used Sanji as a bait to talk about family and ended up creating on of the most beloved character in Katakuri

What do you mean "think about the treatment of the crew"? All of them got some focus at some point of this "post timeskip" era......well, all of them except Robin

Yeah One Piece has been running for over twenty years yet the final stretch is going to end up rushed because Oda has too many fucking characters.

One problem is that he just keeps wasting time on stupid jobbers. How many fucking named beast pirates have we had as of now? Imagine if in Skypea, there were like 70 goats, all with different ranks and names, getting introductions left and right just to be taken out by one move while luffy just keep running around like a headless chickcen?

And all the while, stuff like Nico Robin's fight or Chopper and Ohm's fight get relegated to the background? What if instead of going straight to Arlong, Luffy kept running back and forth accross syrup town, first beating the Human Thugs, then the Low-Fish, then the Octocrew, then the Fishgang, then the Marine Mafia, on and on and on and on.

That's what Wano is like.

Shut up, loser. Go back to the cotton fields before I make slavery legal again.

Hey guys, its that one kidfag back again

I'm also the guy who used to spam the DRAGON IS ROCKS SON theory

What to you guys think will happen to the kid pirates by the end of this arc? I really want kid and killer to come out on top, it would be cool if Kid took some of of Kaidos crew as his subordinates.

I also think kid is gonna have a bigger story impact than most people think. He's been depicted as around luffy level in power, and he has beef with shanks. Shanks gave an arm for luffy, and took one from kid. I really think when the Shanks arc happens kid will play a big role but who knows

orange town*
confused the names

I just mean they're the main characters and how they're written is often endemic of any pros or cons of the story as a whole. They are the backbone on which the narrative rests.

people who dislike the timeskip but still say "but marineford was good" really confuse me when marineford was all the same problems people have with the timeskip (only luffy does anything, 100 characters introduced in the same arc, run piece and clash piece, years of chapters spent trying to save ace only for him to die anyway because akainu basically made chicken sounds at him and flapped his wings)

>Imagine if in Skypea, there were like 70 goats, all with different ranks and names, getting introductions left and right just to be taken out by one move while luffy just keep running around like a headless chickcen?
Okay but this basically did happen, they just didn't name the goats. The priests and Wiper's allies were absolutely were worthless though, so they could be counted in that.

Modern One Piece is straight TRASH pure 100% unfilitered straight from the can seeping festering rotting GARBAGE. Only casuals and people with trash taste like that shit. It has literally zero appeal. There aren't any good fights so fightfags have no reason to like it. Any planning or intrigue gets reduced to "Luffy will punch the bad guy and win" so plotfags have no reason to like it. Modern spreads are a nasty thick stew of bold lines and sloppy backgrounds so artfags have no reason to like it. Hundreds chapters are spent wading through shitty generic repeated "oppressed nation" backstories instead of exploring cool islands so funfags have no reason to like it. There is ZERO appeal. And WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CHARACTERS bruh, like Zoro and Sanji are running around sweating fodder while Big Mom is getting dabbed on by Chopper? WHAT am I supposed to be caring about here? Luffy fighting the big bad while the crew runs around like retards? Hundreds of side characters getting introduced and then having them do a single clash before they're forgotten about? Now we have even more useless characters like Yamato and Ulti being introduced solely to sell shitty plastic figures. Orochi, the only villain this arc that's given any kind of motive, is one shot and thrown offscreen despite getting built up for half the arc. Kanjuro, the side character we've been stuck with for hundreds of chapters, turns out to be a traitor and then what? Offscreened. WHAT IS THE POINT here, there is no payoff, it's just letdown after letdown with pissfags coping about the arc "isn't over yet" and "it's surely going to be great!". This shit should've ended years ago.

Theres a huge difference in scale between the fight on orange town and the raid of onigashima, its like comparing a scuffle between small gangs on the streets and the invasion of Normandy

The difference is that Oda didn't spend page after page introducing dumb-looking goats. Compare that, however, to the beast pirates, and their headliners, numbers, armored division, gifters, pleasures, waiters, and on and on and on and on.

Absolute jobbers who had way too much time spent on them.

>The difference is that Oda didn't spend page after page introducing dumb-looking goats.
But he did, you've just forgotten how long the middle of Skypeia is because holy shit is there a lot of time spent on absolute nobodies fighting each other and not even one Straw Hat is present for a lot of them.

It's not, it doesn't make that much time since i've read it. Oda spends WAY more time with fodder in the wano arc. It's not even comparable.

Oda's writing has been a roller coaster since skypia/Enis Lobby (which is where I think it peaked). The time skip arcs just don't have the same magic. I went from following this weekly to just coming back when something of interest is happening. Like with Wano I didn't start following til the oden flashback happened.

i don't disagree that there are a lot of irrelevant characters in Wano but the flying six are not among them, and the Gifters really hammer home the idea of "this is a whole ass army of mid-tier dudes" versus the more common "this is a whole ass army of shitfodder"

>Pudding
>Not Amande, Galette, or Custard

why do people bitch about modern one piece lacking soul

When "he laughed" is top five soulful moments in the entire manga

I think one of the issues is that arcs like Marineford really raised the standards for arcs and with Oda's slow pacing, it can get unbearable for many people to read/watch weekly. I don't think the post time skip arcs are particularly any worse than the average One Piece arcs, but the expectations have risen way higher.
But I do see some issues in current arcs that weren't present in older ones. My biggest issue is Wano's lack of Straw Hat interactions. I feel like Oda kinda forgets to write in gags or interactions for characters even in slower parts like Act 2 which should have the Strawhats be interacting alot more often. I didn't particularly feel this issue during Fishman Island, Punk Hazard, or Zou however.

"He laughed" is forced soul therefore lacking soul.

Hear me out
Franky has exactly 0% chance of beating Sasaki in a fair fight. Wanna know why? Because Sasaki has haki and Franky doesn't.

Pudding> Smoothie >> Galette >>> Amande > The rest

Attached: pud.png (640x512, 131.01K)

The Flying Six are different, they're actual characters - like the Baroque Works Assassins. People like the Numbers and the Gifters, however, they're complete fodder. They get several pages for them, then Luffy comes along and beats them with four punches, give or take, while he's running back and forth.

I'm just tired of Run Piece Fodder Time.

pudding is way cuter

This fat fish should've joined the crew instead of the current boring fat fish

Not says fun like a thread made with the intent of bitching.

Franky doesn't need haki, his body is made from Wapometal

One Piece after TS is very disapointing desu. It had a good time before the TS. Oda fucked up brutally. And Wano Kuni is another over-hyped garbage arc. I dont know what the hell Oda is doing.
