Current state of Weekly Shounen Jump

>More than half of the catalogue is 2020 series
>Not a single hit in the last 2 years
>One Piece is declining
>HxH is dead
>The mediocre MHA and BC are the second and third oldest series

What's the future direction for WSJ given its current stale state?

Why are you highlighting Wikipedia instead of making or using a picture? This level of laziness is just sad.

Magu-chan is based though

i don't know anything about the topic but i blame the editors

>Not a single hit in the last 2 years
What? What is your definition of a hit if you think they haven't had one in the last 2 years?

CSM,JJK and BTW are hard carrying WSJ.
Also they can just milk OP until the end of time so no worry.

Kek what a sloppy shop

It's a transitionary period for the magazine, if you've followed it for more than a couple years, you know this is relatively normal.

>stale
didn't they bring in double the revenue of last year, and last year was the most revenue they'd made in quite a while?

CSM was the last hit they have. BTW is seasonal so it doesn't count.

>>More than half of the catalogue is 2020 series
This is normal. The age of super long runners has poisened the well and distorted the view of what Jump, and manga in general, actually usually is.

>Not a single hit in the last 2 years
Blatantly false.

>OP is declining
So? It's still the #2. It's not like it's a bad thing for Shueisha either, given that the #1 came from the same stable.

>HxH is dead
And has been a shambling corpse for more than a decade, closing in on two. It's not a new problem at all.

>The mediocre MHA and BC are the second and third oldest series
Completely irrelevant. So what? MHA still makes them money and though it has plateaud, it hasn't declined yet.

He means they haven't debuted a new hit in the last two years. Which is almost always true by definition because it takes 2 years to get an anime minimum.

It's still the #2.
No

Yeah it is. Not in yearly sales, but in terms of actual per volume sales and merch it's obviously the strongest brand out of any ongoing manga.

Jump doesn't make its money from selling its weeklies, and the money it gets from volume sales is probably tiny compared to the infusions it gets from Shueisha when it does something like produce the source material for one of the best selling movies in Japan's history
it doesnt matter if you think KnY is shit, it doesn't negate the fact that it was a big win for everyone involved on the business side.

>Plateaud
i dunno i was really bored during My Villain Academia but this war arc has been some good stuff

Agravity boys will be a mega hit when it gets an anime adaption.

Long running shounen are a thing of past. New series should be 200-250 chapters at most. People do not have the attention span of following 700+ chapter series anymore.

DOLPHIN

>BnH has been going for 6 years.

Start releasing long running series again. Anime's the big business. Nobody wants to watch you cram what should have been 50 episodes into a 13 episode shit show.

this mindset is how we got pierrotshit, user.

>and less than 10 months have passed in universe

It's still the No.1 Mangazine there is. It won't have another 1995 untill One Piece ends.

>6 years
>Deku and the other students are still in their first year.
Can't really blame Hori for milking MHA after his first couple of series, but jesus.

>Not a single hit in the last 2 years
Chainsaw man and as much as I hate to admit it burn the witch were both hugely sucuesful.

i think mashle has potential to be a pretty popular anime if it makes it to that point, best gag series in jump rn unless agravity boys got a lot better after i dropped it

OP has been going for 23 years and only two years have passed in-universe. Why are nip authors so bad at pacing?
