i lost $200 today on my penny stock gambling but i made $150 day trading, idk how to feel. i made 100 on selling half of my micron swing trade but i got stopped out at break even (48.5) and it dumped today. also lost like $20 gambling with afternoon day trades.
thinking im just going to avoid all overnight holdings and afternoon trading for the rest of my life. trading the open is love, trading the open is life.

You take 100 shares and break it up. In this case it's 5:1. So you're 100 shares become 500 shares. The net value is the same but each individual share is worth 1/5 of the original.

It makes no difference if you bag apple now or wait post split. Due to the way it's adjusted the shares will trade starting at 112 per share on 8-31-2020 with your total cost the same either way. The upside is look at history. Apple did a 7:1 split when the stock was 600 per. So it was 100 per on split date. As we know it didn't stay at 100 per for long... Nor will it this time either.

When treasuries dumped today, the two choices were buy TMF shares or TLT options. TMF would have netted me about 5% so far. The TLT calls I ended up getting are up 15%

Treasuries are a better inverse than inverse ETFs and UVXY cuz they are traded directly so they lend themselves better to TA and FA. They don't move a lot though so you need leverage, hence TMF and TLT options

It just means the per share value will go down. As in, 1 share will be 300ish as opposed to 1500ish. The people who already own shares will get 5 shares per 1 they own. Stock splits are just a way to opening up more shares for more trading. In particular, it makes it more reasonable to trade options on the stock (current values are pretty fucking ridiculous, like tens of thousands of dollars for a single option.) This really shouldn't affect your view on TSLA at all. If you think they're a good stock, buy. If not, avoid.
