Sincerely, there's been decent very stylized series out there (Spartacus, Into the Badlands, Legion, ect), but there's a very specific problem about One Piece; Arlong Park. In the current climate, I wouldn't wish adapting the plot of Arlong Park totally straight without alterations on anything, because it couldn't be done without changing the sort of racist Arlong is coded as and/or Nami's race.

Arlong isn't even a human, having a fish guy saying his species is physically superior doesn't mean jack shit.
The parallels with blacks start later when the trenyubito are introduced.

Why though? Live action adaptations of anime and video games tend to be a fucking joke a good majority of the time. It's such a fucking stupid idea, just have the anime on your platform.

Agreed, plus a lot of the characters have wacky, cartoonish designs. Fucking Alvida shows up in the first chapter.

God as bad as death note was, you have no idea how scared I am with the cowboy bebop adaptation and you have to remind me that a one piece series is in the works? It'll be bad. Very bad. Anime doesn't do well in live adaptation. Its been proven again and again. i don't even understand why anyone will even attempt such a thing at this point. A send up movie like that battle angel movie is one thing but actually lifting whole scenes from the OVA is the only saving grace making a goddamn PC-13 is what fucked that up and any other adaptations less then an R rating won't fucking work. Adapt the works so they fit a 90 minute time frame or attempt to make a very long running series there is no inbetween especially with One Piece.

It really depends how quickly they speed things up. Netflix did just 2 episodes per book for A Series of Unfortunate Events after all.
