We were JUST getting some real development of the characters with the MC coming to terms with his crush on Katagiri, the two of them growing closer, Katagiri and Tits becoming real friends, and Buns in the back plotting something. MC even alluded to things to come with "a storm is coming". Then all of a sudden it's all fucking over.

The only good work in this subgenre is ueno san and it only barely counts as part of it

you can always use your imagination to imagine what other situations the characters would have gotten into they are pretty well established so you can imagine how each of them would interact with each other in other situations.
