A sad and lonely man whose life peaked in university and is perpetually stuck chasing the shadow of his dead unrequited love. A cautionary tale.
A man who wanted to fuck Kanbaru's mother (rightfully so) but couldn't get past the Papa Kanbaru hurdle.
NTR man from monogotari doujins. I think he's a vampire or something? Not sure I just read them for the NTR.
He seemed kind of bland even in stories written purely so he can win.
moot at age 32
a based conman
>A cautionary tale
Oh, and also admired by people who don't understand this. He's a fun and interesting character to follow but also a pathetic fuck.
>He seemed kind of bland even in stories written purely so he can win
That's because in the actual story he's the cuck, not the NTR man. He's a lot more interesting when he's a complicated cuck than when he's a simple NTR man.
My wife.
Best character from his series.
>NTR man
Wait what does it mean? Is he the one cucking or getting cucked?
how is he pathetic?
best girl
How is he not? He spends his time conning children and pining for a woman who didn't even love him when she was alive. He's an example of how to do things wrong and end up miserable. A warning to readers who find his sort of aloof attitude cool, that it won't lead to happiness or satisfaction in life.
Literally me.
this, senjougahara's whole initial crush with him is also reflective of the naivety in admiring kaiki, iirc referenced in tsukimonogatari
the person I aim to be
Rest in piece, sweet prince. In your honor I'll even not call planetes shit this time.
It's funny how mad uncritical Kaiki fans get when you point this out.
b-but he wears a suit and has a grim expression!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Conning children is based.
he's right i guess, shit
Best grill
Fuck off and die, crossboarding nigger scum.
He's a fraud so dedicated to his craft that he became more powerful than the real supernatural investigators.
I think people get tricked into believing he's someone to admire just because he's revealed to be a much more layered and interesting character than he initially seems. You want to root for him, but that shouldn't mean aspiring to be like him. He has enough experience to put a bunch of kids in their place and has learned plenty about life through suffering, but he hasn't necessarily taken it all into heart. Or perhaps he's too set in his ways to change. Yotsugi criticises him for this and later calls out Araragi for exhibiting similar patterns of behaviour ("not trying to be happy is just cowardice"). Kaiki is "cool" in the same way that hiding behind multiple layers of irony and calling everying cringe is "cool" - it's something you need to grow out of if you ever want to lead a fulfilling life and have genuine relationships. Sincerity has a much higher value in the long run than being "cool".
