Is it possible to issue fiat currency in Medieval isekai?
Is it possible to issue fiat currency in Medieval isekai?
Depends on the stability of the country, really.
Money only has the value we give it. Having gold and qilver coins only made it so the coin had intrinsic value in case of shit hitting the fan (which was quite often).
If you plan to destroy that kingdom through deficit spending then yeah, be my guest.
>Author isekai never realized how difficult was to creat paper money in the modern age, tries to creat paper money in a feudal age
It's not like you can't research this kinda of things
>more economics bait isekai threads
dunno, but it's possible to bait people when done in a subtle way.
STANDING
>No gold standard
>No counterfeit measures
>No complex plan to combat deficit
Stupid mutt
ON THE EDGE
Only if you get a global superpower to back the value of said currency.
Yes but you'll need to jump through a lot of hoops to make it work.
paper money isn't the same as fiat currency.
but sure why not. various forms of abstract money were invented several times throughout history. would probably take a whole generation to get everybody on board with a true fiat currency though. bit more complicated than handing out slips of paper.
not bait if people just like talking about this kind of world building.
Suddenly it all makes sense.
>introduce fiat currency in Medieval era
>people lose trust of currency and caused hyper inflation
>society resorts to barter trade
No no, I'm sure it would totally work like your Adventurer's Guild
>mc:Just sign this paper that's worth 1000 gold coins princess
>Princess: sure what can go wrong
One year later: Deficit, counterfeit money, you lost The respect from your people nobility and merchants
>Mc: well sorry that my nippon highschool knowledge was not enough, hahaha
Mc moves to another country with his harem
Princess got decapitated and never scored
it is bait because it uses the isekai spoiler. Also, it's hardly relevant to anime and manga. It's more /tg/ than anything
Fiat currency been used by the Chinese like back in the Song Dynasty and the French used in the late 1600s.
You just need to be politically stable with a strong central government for it to work + the ability to print/monopolize the money. If we're talking about medieval like the 1400s-1500s and Holy Roman Empire division, yeah-no it is fucked.
Just enjoy the ride user, the last thread was really boring
>adventurer's guild IDs are magical and impossible to fake
>cant do the same with money
People have to get used to paper money first.
If you demand taxes to be paid in your currency that certainly helps.
>can make economy work on a isekai
>surely will make the same state controlled economy shit we have today
this make me angry. i know this is just fiction but fiction imitate reality, and i'm 100% sure that given the chance people would do the same shit, and what really make me fucking pissed is that they wouldn't do this because they would got to rule and have the money printer in their hands, but because they're good goys and are doing what was taught to them.
It's so tiresome
>dumb author tries to introduce paper money because it's muh revolutionary idea
>hand waved the difficulties paper money would create in medieval era
This is like reading detective conan and he explained that the culprit is using magic to murder the victim. As they said, author's intelligence is reflected in his works
these theorycrafting bait threads have been making the isekai threads worse and more divided. Someone will probably make another thread because this one as has happened every time which just splits discussion. Please use more appropriate boards for this worldbuilding theory crafting.
The quantity would be a problem, the cost to make the money.
If anything you can creat a credit/debit card and use a magical database to control things
It ain't just the government.
EVERYONE that you are trading with has to agree with its worth.
You will need to confiscate ALL the currency that you have created before and declare them worthless after a few years
And be absolutely sure that your people have trust in your economy or else they would not use it and revert to barter which would cause inflation.
>bumping threads for bad manga
Zig Forums has never been strictly about anime, newfag. why do you think there's a persistent draw thread when there's a board specifically for art? go back to /r/anime if your autism can't handle your media being neatly segregated.
>announce that this paper now has set value
>the royalty were impressed instead of hitting him in the head if he is high
Yep the appeal of any isekai for me would be a new start in a simple world, that's why the ending of log horizon S2 still makes me mad.
>The chink girl wants to creat a two way door between the real world and the fantasy world
Didn't work so well in Faust II, but that is a native isekai.
it would be great for royalty if it worked. But all the landed nobles would rise up in resistance. They'd lose a lot of power if the royal family were allowed to print money.
>EVERYONE that you are trading with has to agree with its worth.
they only need to trust your government is good for it. there was a time when every bank issued their own currency. while inconvenient, it more or less worked.
everything else you said is retarded.
I really liked time stop brave, really wish there were more time stop manga that aren't just hentai plot devices
Or worse: merchants stopped coming and businessmen started leaving because they have 0 trust on the currency
Causing major economic crisis
Why do these meta threads keep pretending that there are medieval isekai anyway?
If you are going to meta it up, can't you at least discuss the actual meta?
Can we not just peacefully bash isekai again for its abhorrently stupid ideas and the repulsive fucks who consume the trash?
Is he talking about paper notes or fiat currency? Those are two very different things. Bank notes that can be traded in for gold were common, while fiat backed only by trust was rare and short lived.
But if you want to bash them, why are you not actually bashing THEM rather than made up fiction that doesn't exist and that nobody reads (because it doesn't exist)?
Aren't you just shooting yourself in the foot here?
