Wow japanese fans are vocal about the new season and they are not happy. They're discontented with the way the MAPPA animation is going and the whole cgi effects. I guess they were holding out hope for a different studio, but same art style route. There's even a petition that's garnered thousands of signatures to have the art style changed. Obviously that wont happen but it shows how unhappy they are

Are you kidding me? The whole episode felt so soulless. The animation is stiff and there's no emotion to it, several scenes were buggy looking as if there's a lag in a videogame or frames missing in the animation. When Zeke and Porco climbed up the stairs and made a turn it felt like entire key frames were missing, as if he's slowly spawning from one checkpoint to the next. Same with that Udo's sperging episode in the docks, it was also like a bunch of disconnected key frames. As for the arty style user, look at this shit. Do these things look human to you? I literally got creeped out, I though it was supposed to be a director's joke about how freaky they are. They look like a bunch of ventriloquist puppets and Gabi, Falco, Udo and Sophia looked like that too at times so I know it's not a joke. I didn't like it. But here's my cope of the day: They're sparing the budget for the fight scenes.

Amazing episode, been so long since I've enjoyed anime this much.

what's the deal with him recounting totally normal funny personality traits as if he was in a living hell, when she gave him that grim look I thought he imagined himself recounting that but was actually having a schizo episode saying horrible shit he didn't realize he was actually saying or something, is she freaked out because the worst that he can recount about these devils is totally benign shit and he's obviously putting on a facade of hatred?

She and Gabi freaked out because what Reiner said basically meant that on the island, there was a bunch of people with different personalities and traits, like the rest of the world. Contrary to their imagination that its just a bunch of mindless devils hell bent on destruction.
