How did this series get so big?

Fantastic anime adapation that caused the series to go viral on the internet for like 10 straight weeks

It's battle shounen with a flashy adaptation

By appealing to every Nip, regardless of age and gender.

Because it turns out ufotable is actually a good studio. Also, Lisa doing the OP helps A LOT.

fpbp

Also the source material is very much above average.

I have to assume all the fans are just stupid kids who've never seen anime before and are wowed by the flashy animation. It's not even good animation, it's just Ufotable's usual tricks to disguise the fact that they have no actual talent.

I honestly can't think of any other reason to like it. I saw the first 10-15 episodes and it has nothing going for it. The characters are cardboard. The plot is thin. The villain is literally Michael Jackson. There are so many better series out there and I cannot fathom why this is the one everyone fixated on.

>The villain is literally Michael Jackson.
wew

It really isn't

Everyone thinks so except for contrarian losers on Zig Forums that hate everything.

>the source material is very much above average.
Not really, it’s mediocre as hell

>We beat Sonic Onii chan

I started watching it because the art style looks really good, but I got really bored like three four episodes in. The characters and the plot are just so flat and uninteresting. It’s really a shame, because the art really is up my alley.

I don’t get how it can be SO popular.

agreed it a standard Shonen

Right place, right time.

This, I endured it until epi 5, it's a shame

I'm already asking myself this. Three episodes in, and I'm not sure about it. I heard it was great, and I found the main girl attractive... then I find out she's actually like 12 and the story isn't really building up to be anything different. I might give it like 2 more episodes and drop it if I'm not interested.

money, ufotable, fujos, herd mentality and shit taste

It only takes 11 chapters for the mangaka to start retconning information from chapter 1 because he didn’t think that far ahead. I enjoy it but it’s incredibly average

By luck and accident
So is fire force

berserk
>kino manga
>lets "animate" it worse than amateur hentai

kny
>below average manga
>lets hire the best studio and spend in a single scene more than double the entire berserk cgi anime budget

the fuck is wrong with japs

>retcons
Elaborate.

Berserk is for edgy teenagers and manchildren. It wouldn't make up for the investment.

I don't know anime - isn't it the other way? Studios jockey for the license to animate

ok zoomer

No idea. It looks garbage and has a generic plot, I dropped it early on.

Berserk is great but its reach is limited for audiences, Kimetsu has dominated the market by appealing to literally everyone

The anime’s first season covers one of the weakest parts of the manga, it speeds up once the Final Selection is over, but its still weak compared to the arcs that follow

>this series
Who?

It is, because all the mediocre shit out there is shit no one actually watches, reads or remembers.

Wouldn't proper animation in berserk require them to make substantial changes to the art? Every OPT thread I see pics of Gutz holding his sword wrong, in a poor stance, with so much line work that it ends up looking like shading with multiple light sources.
And if they go the Break Blade route of trying to maintain the artwork as best as possible you end up with terrible movement that makes you doubt the budget even more.

Dropped it after 5 ep.
Should I catch up?

Sure, it speeds up more after that
