The animation looks good. A little jarring compared to the status quo, but overall I found it more enjoyable. This episode confirmed that non-combat scenes will be ultra kino and gave me a bit of hope for the rest of the season.

Next episode will likely be 90% Reiner flashbacks. The preview makes it look like they'll be going all the way up to the start of of 97, so I'm not sure where they'll cut it off at. There's not really a good stopping point there.
The 2nd panel in pic related is the best one we could get, since we're almost certainly getting Reiner's suicide attempt in Episode 4, but who knows.

It can look wonky at times, but I prefer an anime studio biting off a bit more than they can chew versus having the same cookie-cutter style as everything else.
Was it worth the sacrifice of having 2D shifters? That's harder to say. Probably not, but I'd have to wait till the season is over to have the full context.

Was good except for Udo and even then it was more of a direction problem than QUALITY. Same with the Zeke stair scene, the camera movement was jarring and didn't go well with the rotoscope, but the rotoscope itself was good.

Yeah this episode hit the mark even though it's so different from WIT. I was still able to get me hyped up.
