How can Demon Slayer be the next big thing in anime and manga if it's already over? This is such a strange uprising this series suddenly has.

shounen fags are so retarded always in hurry to call any new shounen "unique" "next big thing" "big 3"

god i hope all the shounen fags cease to exist

Why is this so popular? I'm honestly curious about it since the premise is nothing new in story-telling.

the manga is over but the glorious UFOTABLE delivery isn't yet

ANIMATION GOOD THEREFORE MASTERPIECE

Kind of based that the author still chose to end it despite the swell of popularity, but it genuinely needed 25 or so additional chapters anyway so slightly less based.

>the premise is nothing new in story-telling.
Tell me burger bro, do you refuse to eat at McDonalds because it offers nothing new when you visit?

>nothing new in story-telling
You have not been alive in a time that this could be true. The last "new" thing in storytelling was the mystery story, over 100 years ago.
What makes something good, isn't "new", but the execution of the idea.

yeah the weird thing is despite almost every arc being a training arc, I couldn't tell you when Tanjiro learned any of the sun breathing forms, like it's basically 100% asspull

He knew the forms the entire time because that is the dance his family passed down for generations. He basically has the flashback realization and then applies what he already knew to actually using his sword.

He already knew all but one form from the get-go, he just didn't know they were forms. The initial reveal of sun breath is kind of an asspull, even if it was technically foreshadowed that there was something significant about Tanjirou's history due to his earrings. It's kind of like foreshadowing that someone has rocket boots by pointing out that they wear red shoes with a bird logo on them.

It technically didn't come out of nowhere but it really could have been anything so it's not a satisfying reveal unless you have masterful direction. Demon Slayer undeniably had that which is why O MY DANCING FATHER still managed to land. I should still give credit to the source material itself though, since I am in the camp that believes there's more to it than "generic shounen." The scenario writing itself is strong enough that a different series with the same production value would not have taken off as much. The anime did however remove some terrible use of narration, thankfully.

I'm honestly surprised that ufotable hasn't announced another movie or season 2 or whatever yet

The story isn't anything special, but the soundtrack and animation are kino and it's overall executed well enough that it doesn't feel like a generic shounen battle anime. That, and it hasn't been dragged out into a 100+ episode series full of power creep and filler.

>it's basically 100% asspull
so you spread read and missed the part
What's frustrating is all they needed to do was show tanjiro practicing the dance of the fire god once before he used it against rui. When he has that life or death moment and realizes the dance is actually a fighting style it would have been much better if it was already introduced and the viewer was allowed to come to that conclusion

Also let's be honest, tanjiro using fire powers was foreshadowed out the ass. And I really gotta give it to wani not making the 13th form an asspull. Fucking everyone was predicting it would be an asspull. But instead the reveal was so good. That moment when you realize his family fell ass backwards into a contingency plan to stop muzan by training to dance until the sun rose was fucking kino

>it doesn't feel like a generic shounen battle anime
wrong
The rest is true though

maybe we'll finally start seeing more series with reasonably paced stories with a clear ending and not the eternal 10000 chapter grind? nah probably not lol.

You mean like CSM?

It didn't end yet , Transferred to Jump +

get the fuck off this board if you haven't read 1000 different theories of kimetsu already and never want to hear another one

I know you are an attack on titan anime only tourist go die

>next big thing
Did you just finish watching some eceleb's vlog from a year and a half ago? It's the current big thing, headed toward yesterday's big thing

>all they needed to do was show tanjiro practicing the dance of the fire god once before he used it against rui.
Could have easily had Tanjirou get through his initial training by comparing the breathing for sword techniques to the dance of the fire god. Would have made the reveal kino.

the foreshadowing was:
his name, his family's work
the sword stuff with haganezuka
muzan's vision of the earrings man w/ red sword (at this point you naturally assume it's Tanjiro's father)

if you made it obvious enough for speedreaders it would be boring to the attentionpayers that actually like your manga

futhermore there is still tension and mystery in the scene because up until the last moment you assume he's going to be saved by giyuu or shinobu like Inosuke and Zenitsu were.

it's a fucking good shonen power up, stop being such annoying faggots

Read it
It's good, the premise and the overall story is nothing new, slayer vs demon? It has been done 1000 times already then you read it and it's wholesome and grimy at the same time
>>tanjiro family is poor and they lived far from the village and decided to go there and sell the coal for some cash, he is the oldest of 5 and his father already passed
Then you met the family for the only time
>>one of his older bro wanted to go with tanjiro and helping him but he need to cut the wood
>>nezuko is baby sitting the youngest
>>the 2 of younger child wanted to go because they want to play, but since there is snow every were tanjiro cant use the cart and carry them when they get tired
>>his mom doesnt want tanjiro to go because there is the snow and could be dangerous but she knew tanjiro was right
They are poor but happy, everyone is helping and they do really care for each other

We aren't arguing there wasn't foreshadowing, we're saying the foreshadowing could be more rewarding.
>his name, his family's work
Symbolism is not foreshadowing
>the sword
>the earrings
That is a very vague investment that left Wani wiggle room to implement either a natural proclivity to learn Sun breath, or the ability to just pull it out of your ass because this other critical information that had been completely obscured from the audience has both its set up and pay off occur at the same time. Wani valued the surprise factor over the logistics. A story that places its values there can feel cheaper. It's not bad but it could have been done better.

>Symbolism is not foreshadowing
But it is

based

because shounenshitters, normalfags and newfags

Except the character's designs line up with their powers perfectly. Tanjiro is the only one in the entire story where this doesn't line up. His design screams fire in multiple ways. Yes it is foreshadowing

KnY is comfort shounen, it doesn't need to be bigger to fulfill that role. It's already taken it by being an optimistic story that appeals to it's main audience cross generationally. It appealed to older viewers because of how many cues it takes from previous shounen (i.e. Jojo, Naruto, bleach, inuyasha), creating a temporary nostalgia lense on intro and at different parts of its execution.
While working with younger audiences new to the genre by concentrating on core values, and introducing the idea of what the right ways to handle death, grief, and trauma are while still remembering to let it's cast of teenagers have good moments/ fun. It doesn't do complex debate on the veracity of moral beliefs or meta parodying shounen tropes more pessimistic series tends to run with (i.e. JJK, CSM).
Like you're not gonna find current gen of japanese kids pretending to be Yuji or Denji and playing that out with their friends- but it's already happening with KnY's audience.
By that account- it is the biggest thing and anime manga for these current years and will sustain itself. It doesn't need to get any bigger to be fondly remembered or remain popular.

I don't think it means everyone will like it and that it has to work for everyone desu, I enjoy the series, but i'm very tired of the debates on its popularity as an indication of viewer intelligence, taste, lasting worth. I detested naruto's run after Pein-arc, I could never stand Death Note. Snk has always grated on me. But I don't go telling every other fan who has liked these titles that they shouldn't enjoy what they do. Because my taste, realistically speaking, has no bearing on theirs.
True entertainment value is subjective and individualistic- not decided by the masses. popularity has nothing to do with why I picked KnY up and why I still enjoy it. If it helps others pick it up and try- great- if not, no big deal. There's a shit ton of work out there to choose from

Symbolism is not foreshadowing. It is not a logistical explanation for why things are the way they are within a story, it is a metaphorical one.

Already forgotten, nobody cares
