As much as I love Sukune, dou 2018 is coming up worse in my opinion.
Baki's second from the bottom on the popularity polls right now, so I expect we'll be getting a major shake up soon (hopefully).
Musashi's arc became a real slog, but it definitely has it's massive highlights which are impossible to deny.

idk if we're reading the same series but i was hooked from the very moment the sumo dude broke Shibukawa's bullshit magic aiki. Every single fight so far has been entertaining and well narrated. It does raise the question of how a bunch of sumo retards are able to go toe to toe with the main cast but other than that it's much more entertaining than the previous dou imo

They don't really go toe to toe with them. Kyogei got wrecked in one chzpter as soon as shibukawz got serious and couldn't fo shit against aiki in real condition, he got downed as fast as the giant e1 max tournament jobber. The professor did well but doppo still had the match in the bag and struggled way more against ali or amanai. Abi got steamrolled and sishimaru could have been one shot by a single mach kick if katsumi didn't waked up him and started fucking around.

Musashi's arc was a slog yes, but at the very least he made a credible threat that didn't require everyone acting like brain dead, shit meme spewing orangutans to ignore how utterly absurd the arc's premise is.

Sumo has far cleaner storytelling so far. Pickle, Musashi, Prisoners, early Grappler were all over the place. You can say they had higher highs (outside of pre-MT Grappler), but I love the pure, clean story we've had this time. The editor will force some random Ogre shit any day, judging by popularity poll, though...
