I'm a female who is apparently very attractive, and same, my own opinion is irrelevant as a consideration--the proof is how others react to me. As my post says, it's different with women. Men don't get upset as much over seeing a handsome man. Some might feel a bit bitter, but that's the extent. for women it's a monstrous overreaction where they try to make the life of the more attractive woman a living hell.

I'm trying to think of why I would hate a "handsome" man. To me the issue isn't his looks but what he does with them. If he uses them to draw attention to a worthy idea, great! If he uses them solely for his own ego he's an asshole. And if his ability to do the former is cut down by the shallowness of his fangirls, I take it up with them, not him. I would hope women would have the sense to do the same with the sexes reversed.

Is this what the show was about? I just finished Yahari the other night, and though I often understood stuff about Hachiman's self-sacrifice like insulting the girl on the roof, or asking the fujoshi out on a date, I never understood the female characters. I sort of got that Yui wanted to date Hachiman, but I didn't understand anything about the co-dependence stuff, or the "grant their wish" thing. Yukino's plot was incomprehensible from my point of view. Literally had no idea what her problem was.

Its not so much intimidation, its that guys think that because you are so pretty you won't give them a shot. Why would you go with a average guy when you could get a handsome one etc. So most guys try to stick around their level to maximize success and minimize rejection
