CABLE PROVIDERS BTFO
>that speed
LMFAO
Awesome a shitload of satellites reflecting light in space making it so we'll never see stars or anything ever again
Not to mention massive amounts of space debris in an already cluttered orbit
All for...40mbps? Holy shit, fuck Elon Musk
They will be competing with other internet providers that offer 2 seconds latency and literally 60kb download speeds and 10kb uploads with a monthly cap of 1gb , the madman pulled it , and this are first generation satellites without interconnection.
They will degrade constantly due to being very low in earth orbit , if a sat stops working due to atmospheric drag it will return to earth alone in 2 or 3 years.
This is actually a solution to space debris , most space debris is actually high earth orbit satellites.
Maybe he should just make fucking cable internet in areas that lack it instead of shitting up the sky and fucking everything up forever
>a few more bits of space junk in the already billions of pieces
fuck off retard
They are low earth orbit satellites they will decay alone and contrary to cables you use way way less co2 , the co2 produced from launching the current satellites constellation is the same an invididual would do by taking 10 flights across the atlantic.
Starlink is way more efficient than any current internet both in resource usage and efficiency.
The meme about space debris is actually the cable companies screaming in panic.
Literally sending an entire internet satelitite constelation that covers the entire world for less than 10 atlantic crossings in co2 usage and probably less in maintance than they spent in cable maintance in a single us state.
Musk pulled it again the fucking madman.
And you're still fucking over our ability to actually utilize our massive multi hundred million dollar telescopes specifically designed to keep an eye out for important things in our galaxy
I don't know why people are knockin StarLink when you can have your million dollar secret base in the middle of nowhere with all the bitches you want and still get high speed internet.
I'm moving to Alaska soon too so the cheaper and more accessible the internet the better.
1_Starlink makes economies of scale in space making things like hubble telescopes insanely cheap due to the constant launch latency reducing prices massively.
Hubble took about 2 billion to launch , thanks to starlink opening economies of scale you could send a hubble for 90m usd in launch costs.
2_Satellite contamination is already accounted in space , earth telescopes uses software to remove satellites from the images.
3_And you're still fucking over our ability to actually utilize our massive multi hundred million dollar telescopes specifically designed to keep an eye out for important things in our galaxy
Such as?Even asteroid spotting missions were cancelled by the us government to pay gibsmedat.
Single ISP for the entire planet, what could possibly go wrong?
Don't forget, even further ruining the internet with ESL shitter rural poorfags
It's going to be web 4.0 with this shit and it's going to fucking suck
Starlink will save our civilization by allowing rural living while freelancing.
It's the only way for the fiat system not to implode due to housing bubbles causing a revolution.
Only people sperging about starlink are urban state workers seething at the idea that the plebs could move away from urban farms.
Our most advanced telescopes and observatories are going to be in space too so I never got the third one. Instead of driving to some mountain you can just buy a ticket to space and be on an observation station.
This is still faster than 80% of Australia's broadband users. Why are the burgers getting it first?
I LOVE WINDSTREAM WOW WHAT A GREAT INTERNET COMPANY
Lol. My mobile phone subscription is 10€/month and it has unlimited 50mbps internet usage. I pay another 10€/month for my cable provider for 100mbps internet. Even my parents who live in the middle of nowhere have optical fiber connection.
kek subscribe to the starlink beta
it's probably going to cost around 60 usd per month for the service at this speeds.
how is this related to chainlink
Brainlet take. Maybe you should stick to what you know and let triple digit IQs worry about satellites.
That's because europe is small on most of the world the update of infrastructure is slow as fuck due to distances.
That is better than Aussie NBN, well done Mr Musk this is one step closer to be able to fuck telstra off
>muh low orbit space junk
>muh light polution
This is just the space version of Greta Thunberg scaremongering and grievance pedalling. You just exposed yourself as a Redditor.
?
You are lucky bastards , musk will 100% be able to sell this shit on the eu and anglosphere, australia will get this internet 100%.
As if satellites reflecting lights were the reason we can‘t see the stars. It‘s because of shitty streetlights and cities.
only stupid people try to halt progress
Your view of the stars will be better when we're off-planet, smoothbrain. Get ready cause we're going to the fucking moon boys
Faster internet is part of the 4IR, IIRC Starlink was specifically mentioned by Klaus at some point. It means thicker data feeds can move faster at lower latencies, which further debases the advantages of local/centralized computations. The automated IoT can't perform that well if every sensor takes 2 seconds to respond and sometimes craps out and drops packages.
There's a whole cult of Plebbitors out there, who fabricate/exaggerate problems they don't understand just so they can virtue signal about it. It's all so tiresome.
Yea fuck redditors.
None of you are seeing the big picture.
This solves the Internet at sea issue. At as sailor, This would literally be one of the best quality of life issues. Not having 4000ms ping and 56k Internet speeds when traveling across the Pacific will be amazing. Also. Mega cities built offshore. Sky cities. I can live on my yacht in the middle of nowhere and still have land based connection speeds instead of 70 year old satellite tech.
We truly are going to enter cyberpunk territory within our lifetime
