He was probably being sincere about what he said regarding Momo not being able to live without him, which is his given reason for why he attempted to kill her in the first place. He didn't anticipate she would survive.
For Lil' Ice I don't think Aizen went out of his way, just that subbing in someone in that moment was advantageous and he figured it might as well be Momo for a little extra bonus.
