Kill La Kill had ended like way before this, so the kid was just watching it dubbed waiting on new dubbed episodes when the show had been over for like a year, I asked him why he doesn't just watch it subbed and he just goes "Reading is annoying"

I watch anime in Japanese and I've watched movies in probably over a dozen different languages. Especially with anime and manga it's annoying that a lot of stuff isn't translated but it's stupid to just refuse to watch stuff that isn't natively in your language. Dubs of movies tend to be better than TV anime (the actors that do it are better) but it's much harder to match mouth movements in live action movies than in animation. Not to mention there's plenty of anime that have no dubs. And waiting for dubs is as stupid as waiting for anime adaptations.

There are varies levels of engagement that people have with their media. Some people are looking for something amusingh. Some people are looking for deeper meaning. Some people really want to parse the creative output of the staff involved. Some just want to get through it to say that they have and mark something off a mental checklist.

In my opinion, watching a dub is like is a bit like those people who watch at 1.5 speed

This. The extra layer of abstraction squeezed between the story and me filters out almost all bad VA performances that would be a detractor in my native language.
When I hear the usual Japanese used in anime now, I think it's sort of like a signal to my brain to lower my expectations into the cartoon level and accept dialogue that normally sounds horrible and out-of-place.
Hearing the same show in English almost always causes me to judge it more harshly as a piece of entertainment.

You watch the show for the cinema, sound and to see the character's expressions and how beautiful the world is not to fucking read the bottom text.

In my experience it's always retards who found reading hard or naturally averse to learning that watches dubs of any media.

Subs are for niggers. They inherently turn watching anime into a reading exercise. Dubs are shit for obvious reasons, too. Raws are the only acceptable option.

Niggers are the ones that don't want to read though.
