How's your manga coming along, Zig Forums?

The last email from amazon said that it was on the way to me.
But with Christmas traffic coming up, it's probably going to take some time.

Is this crap real?

Yeah, there are tons of books like it. They used to be in libraries everywhere when I was a kid.

>Katy
of course

My kid brother taught himself how to draw by following the old DB manga and imitating Toriyama's style. He got pretty damn good at it

stopped drawing several months ago, it's no longer fun or enjoyable. there's no fucking point

I have a bunch of different ideas for a short story.
Character creation is kicking my fucking ass so I’m just gonna start somewhere because I can’t settle for style or general look at all.
So it’s going somewhere at least .

Brandon?

true, I still draw but only because I like seeing how my characters look.

one day....
even if im not a jap, one day

it seems that Jump is opening up to manga creators outside of japan.

I did few oneshots but they never got through some of recent contests.

Did the fucker that did megatokyo back in the day do this?

why is creating so hard bros

we can't just go to supply store and buy all the materials we need, and comic creation in america fucking sucks

If you learn to speak Japanese fluently, they don't care. Back in the day they might insist you become an executive's adopted son or invent a fake Japanese ancestor, but nowadays all you need is the language.

while that's true, i mean more generally
I have writer's block so bad i can barely think

You can't buy talent nor persistence.

hmmm

the supply stories in japan make it easy for any loser to make a manga, here you have to pray that the prices are actually good and not overpriced.
>You can't buy talent
Lmao, where did you even get this from? Easier access to supplies motivate creation.

Talent is a meme, anyone can become masters at anything if they try hard enough

holy toolbox fallacy, batman.
draw in your damn notebooks with no. 2 pencils, call it a style, someone will think it's cool.

creating an actual finished work and sketching are two different things. anyone can sketch and call it a style, but not everyone can create the manga.
This is a manga thread, not a illustration thread.

Who the fuck is that? My name is Chonk

>t. thinks the creative process starts only on expensive materials
>t. is never gonna make it

you're still going on about this?
I never once said you need expensive materials, I just said that having access to those materials with ease motivates creation. if I said "you can't draw without an expensive pencil" or some gay shit like that you'd be right.
Right now you look like a retard

Jesus fucking Christ, this way of thinking is the most retarded thing I’ve read in a VERY long time.

Okay, NOW you’re just back peddling and trying your hand at damage control.

name 1 thing I said that was wrong, the other user is pushing is dumb interpretation on what I said.

>katy cope
Westerners (and everyone not a jap man) eternally coping with their inability to rid their artworks of that distinct stank

One of the funniest things about the DIY manga scene in the West is that, outside of France and potentially some of Latin America, there used to be this huge trend of failed artists creating books about how to make manga.
I don't think Katy Coope was one of them particularly, but I remember being a kid and going to school fairs, and there was a wealth of books just like OP's pic which had objectively awful illustrations used on the cover.
It was like this at Barnes & Noble as well. Loomis is definitely an /ic/ meme but it always bothered me how, instead of having general books teaching kids how to learn artistry and its nuance, it was always just UHHHH OKAY HERE'S HOW TO DRAW A BMW M3 EVEN THOUGH YOU'RE A DUMB RETARD WITH NO EXPERIENCE

IMO that's why there are so few talented artists in America these days compared to Japan (and don't tell me I wrong, you know I'm right deep down!) because our publishing houses don't understand how to pick out aesthetics correctly.
