/XMR/ Monero General

This daily general is for XMR fans and supporters of the cypherpunk ideology to hang out and help anons learn about Monero - the most fungible cryptocurrency. A cypherpunk is any activist advocating widespread use of strong cryptography and privacy-enhancing technologies as a route to social and political change.
We believe that Monero is the logical continuation of Bitcoin because it offers superior privacy and scaling, leading the way to many potential use cases. Discussion points include rising Dark Net adoption, news articles about Monero, daily transaction totals, and new technology updates to the Monero project.

Moonboy posting is discouraged - price speculation, and TA are fine.

my question would be what happens when governments start banning privacy coins what is going to happen then when all exchanges no longer lists XMR etc?

How can we withdraw for cash in the future assuming if governments do ban privacy coins and exchanges delist XMR?

where is the naked one?

There will always be a way to use Monero. Governments can't ban a crypto currency. It would require shutting down the electrical grid because Monero is maintained by it's network.
If exchanges were to ban monero (by the way, this would not happen overnight and it's not even that realistic that this would be widespread, as many countries have very lax crypto laws compared to, say, the united states) then the community that supports Monero would adapt. This is because people actually USE monero for a purpose i.e. wanting untraceable transactions. We already have user friendly options to do this like cake wallet, which has an exchange (morphtoken) built into your wallet so you can auto convert Bitcoin to Monero and viceversa. There are many platforms being made.
Speaking of which, atomic swap research made significant gains within the past few weeks and it looks like that is coming a lot sooner than related. The math is being audited right now and a website is in the works.
>How can we withdraw for cash in the future assuming if governments do ban privacy coins and exchanges delist XMR?
If Monero is being banned, then all crypto will be. The ease of swapping Monero to another crypto is very difficult to stop. It's why I believe governments are eventually going to give up and just start monitoring who is buying big amounts of Monero through on ramps so they can see who is laundering money. While I hate the feds, I am fine with having KYC if not for the purpose of allowing onramps.

Incredible explanation user

>onramps
You're saying on centralized KYC exchanges right? DEX would probably be the best thing to use if the governments do force centralized KYC exchanges to delist coins

Tell me why I shouldn't sell all my XMR for LINK

I love Monero-chan!

tell us why you don't hold both

Yeah exactly we would adapt to Monero being "banned". The use for it isn't going to go away.
Monero is already the coin of choice to wash transaction histories and improving chain analysis technology is only going to increase Monero's value over time.
LINK has no current use case and it is entirely based on speculation.

I do hold both. I'm asking why I shouldn't just go all in link. XMR is up 5% from last year and LINK is up 500%

bump

ngl getting tired of holding xmr. at this point even zec is getting more attractive since they finally catching up. really sucks missing out on that run. zec halving is in october. i swear if we're left behind in the dust i might JUST myself.

we're up 5% on the year. don't call me a moonboy you stupid nigger. our traction is what? a bunch of low volume junkie markets? liquidity is shit too. maybe you should have higher expectations about the shit you hold. rent's gonna get wild in mumbai next year rajesh

government banning monero would probably be the best thing that ever happened to it. Alot of people would become redpilled and see the need for privacy coins and then stock up.

this again? they'll never ban privacy coins, can we move on from addressing 2016 FUD?

caring about the price at all makes you a moonboy.
we have a really massive spike in user transactions over the past year. Saying it is a "bunch of low volume in junkie markets" completely undersells what has been a really large amount of actual growth in actual use case. This is something that correlates to long term value, because people who are switching to use monero aren't going to switch to any other privacy alternative. Dark nets are clearly switching over and this is a big win.
>maybe you should have higher expectations about the shit you hold
and this year Monero is introducing a really major scalability fork with CLSAG and adoption has skyrocketed. It's been a really great year Monero to be honest.
>rent's gonna get wild in mumbai next year rajesh
pathetic projection.

why is monero not going up with the rest of the alts?

how does using monero wash transaction history? if i had to take a guess, its because once i change to monero the btc i had that i got off an exchange is out in the wild after i trade it for monero?

Why haven't you stopped beating your wife?

Because you'll want to kys when xmr starts mooning.

Monero uses automated scripts to scrub the btc blockchain. Each monero tx funds a "miner" which runs these scripts over the block chain. You bitcoins are now considered seperate from the exchange once you make the return xmr tx. The bitcoins are now "in the wild" as it were.

>caring about the price at all makes you a moonboy.
you're a dumb retard, stopped reading right there kys. no seriously, kys.

I wonder this aswell. Like cant they see what your wallet had before you "wash"? and also what comes in your wallet after.

Seething moonboy. Run along and play with your shitcoins, don't want to miss out on those sick GAINZ bro. Quick, the numbers are getting bigger!

You would use a different Bitcoin address, or preferably not use Bitcoin at all. If the intended recipient only accepts Bitcoin you could use xmr.to.

>its monero on ethereum
no its not, its a copy paste of 0xBTC code with the monero name slapped on top. It has no ring sigs, no bullet proofs, no dandelion++, no asic resistant mining, no smooth emissions, no Elliptic curves, no spend key priv key combo. It is nothing but a code fork of a failed token on a bloated network bogged down by chinese pyramid schemes, if you think its ever going to go anywhere your sadly mistaken

Interesting graphic about the resistance of Monero's various components to hypothetical quantum attacks (Note: I know that this img could be used to FUD, so just know that Monero is NOT vulnerable today. It's hypothetically vulnerable in the future, but developers are already researching flaws in order to work on fixing them in the future.)

...

0xBTC isn't a failed token. Development for it and other minable tokens is quite active. But you're right that 0xMR is plagiarism with no credit given and probably a scam. Nothing I can see in common with Monero than the name.
