I've had a nano s for three years - it works well but you have to download a different app to it for each coin, meaning you're constantly having to delete/install apps all the time if you have a diverse portfolio. Also, ERC-20 tokens are very complicated to store on it, so I don't even bother. Right now I have BTC, LTC, and XRP on it. Everything else I've left on an exchange because it's too much hassle. Don't know yet about whether the airdrop will automatically add FXRP to my Nano wallet, but it certainly seems like it should.
Don't listen to the morons saying they've lost stuff. Nano is extremely secure, but it's like anything in crypto - you need to know what you're doing or you could fuck up and lose your shit by sending to a wrong address or something. Read up on how to use it and be careful.
Also, I can't in good conscience recommend you buy XRP - I've held 5K XRP for over three years and regret not selling at $3 every single day. This fucking shit is going nowhere.

I've never used ledgers, so I can't speak on their efficacy. What has always worked for me though is desktop wallets, assuming you're not a brainlet and can keep your pc free of malware, and can keep your backup seed phrase safely stored somewhere IRL.
