its cause of the way ETH works. You spend gas as a weight to bump yourself up on the list, more gas => faster transaction, but its a race with all the other coomers. It'll settle back down in a bit, unless coingecko happens first.

it's like that with all decentralized ETH-based markets. On the bright side, this allows for the transactions to occur without any centralized control like banks while also having transparency and safety, unlike more traditional p2p transactions. That's where ETH gets most of its value.
