You need decent money to get started and a strong understanding of the market, but I’m doing well on them and I know everything’s not crashing unlike my fucking crypto

Pokemon cards have no liquidity.

I HODL MtG

Is this you user? Nice collection. To this day I still don't have an OG Charizard card

Lmao no??? are you fucking retarded?

yes, about half of my collection. the charizard is just unlimited, so not OG, but still nice to look at

Your mom has no liquidity.

Fuck this makes me to play Pokemon Red again.

OP anyone here that tells you pokmane cards are useless are retards, I know you can make thousands of buying up cards and getting them graded. The only problem is knowing which cards will go up in price. card selling groups are popping up everywhere and many dumbasses will say no they aren't but that's because they are schizo and scared of twitter

Sounds like there's no organic demand, and it's just vendors selling to each other.

I would say its new releases coming out with hyped cards causes collectors to wanting them. tournament players also want them. the biggest access to them is the vendors since they get the packs directly while you have to go scavenging to Walmart and target and stuff.

Vintage holos is where the moneys at

Idk it seems to me like people just buy vintage holos as investments to resell. Barely anyone actually wants this crap. Seems like an unsustainable market especially considering the rate it's been skyrocketing.

people want them.
the current prices are people fomoing because they dont want to be priced out of their childhoods, and they just got a $1200 check
but this market doesnt just dump like bitcoin. nobody is going to buy a charizard for $100 and panic sell for $10 because they think pokemon is a ponzi. theyre just going to sit on the card until it goes back up because THEY BOUGHT IT BECAUSE THEY LIKE IT

thought this was a pokemon card ebay flip thread but I see it's just a parody

in case anyone came in here thinking the same. I have a whole collection of pokemon cards from the first and second series that I kept thinking they'll be worth money some day. Are they?

What do you have?

I don't know too much about the technical as in what print or year or whatever but I have the whole first generation, whole second generation with lots of doubles here and there. They were all bought when they first came out. Got some japanese prints as well, don't know much about them

you're sitting on 6 figures easy

pokellector.com/sets
what sets? 1st edition or unlimted?

gen 1 was reprinted and gen 2 has some extremely rare cards (shining) that i doubt any kid could have pulled all of from packs, so this could mean anything

w-what....r-really?

thanks for the resource user. What's the easy way to tell if they're reprinted or not?

Not until I'm done with her. Then she'll have a small amount of liquidity, specifically in her vagina.

base set 2 is the reprint set. you will see a "2" as the set symbol on the right side of the card

also there are 130 cards in base set 2 and 102 cards in the actual base set (see bottom right corner of card)

I know a schizophrenic who occasionally visits /vp/, gets bullied off and then cries about it on twitter who has many many rare cards.
The dude lives off government money and refuses to sell them because his parents bought them for him when he was a kid and because he doesn't want people knowing his address.

also keep an eye out for any of your base cards that are shadowless (you can tell because theres literally no shadow around the picture border, see venusaur pic for shadow)

they can be worth like x10 the unlimited (shadow) version

I just looked through TCGplayer for the prices of cards I used to have and I want to fucking kill myself. I had both Lugia ex and Charizard ex in lightly played condition, along with a shitton of other holos worth at least $10. Even the fucking commons and uncommons of old sets are worth a buck or too, and I had literal thousands of them. Fuck me.

TCGPlayer is unreliable af for vintage cards. It's just scalper trolls buying everything and listing for whatever ridiculous price they see fit.

Ebay sold listings is way more reliable for what shit actually is worth.

LGSs sometimes use it as their price guide, though.

For example, TCGScalper has Zard ex listed at $800, but if you check out ebay sold listings you'll see it's actually a $100-200 card.
