Should I sell 60k of my 200k in crypto to get a Masters?

What are the chances Link recovers by next year?
60k would let me live comfy for 2 years and get a Masters in Computer Science/ Data Science so I'd have something decent to fall back on as a burger rather than being a NEET.

Yes sell so you can take your meme degree and shove it up your ASS

investing in yourself is always a good idea. You might lose out on some gains, but at least you'll be educated.

The thing is I am great at educating myself but companies want a fucking piece of paper.

masters student here! yeah i think taking a masters is worth it! just 1 year OP you got this!

It really depends on the country you want to work in, the position you would like to work in and the type of companies you are looking at.

In most EU countries: the masters degree is totally worth it and you dont even need 60k for 2 years. There is no need to throw around 30k bucks a year when you are a student. You could also try to break it down to one year. Less costs and less time to spend your money.

In e.g. the us: i dont know.

they don't, they want you to shill them something better.

Living on your own in the US you need that much.

such as?

What about those high student debts and such? Everything covered with 60k for two years?

See this? Just believe me and go for the masters degree at a good/great uni (compsci myself). Even in the EU where it/compsci salaries are generally much lower than in the us, the masters would pay of in the long run.

Do it.

You can move to germany let's say and get a masters for free.
If you're so great at educating yourself you could even learn German, so you can actually have a social life as well.

data science is dying. a lot of talented people are leaving the field. there's a lot to say about this phenomenon but the basic idea is this: data scientists are realizing their work is insanely political; most orgs aren't willing to do what it takes to gives data science a chance, but they complain endlessly that it isn't working; lastly, but most importantly, a lot of the work of a data scientist is/has been automated. unless you want to focus on advanced data analytics, there isn't much of a point to going into data science.

go into software engineering instead.

also, user, i want to add that you don't need a master's to get into data science. i have a bachelor's in econ. i taught myself everything that i needed to know: python, sql, linear algebra, and calculus. if you work hard then it's certainly possible to get there.

Software engineering is full. Study law

Depends on what you do, but generally speaking: work out what their problems are, work out what they don't like, things they wish they had.

Disclaimer: if you are a doctor or lawyer, yeah do the masters.

you must be joking. software engineering is by no means "full". unless you mean full of idiots.

There are online programs under $20-30k which pay for themselves. Some are under $10k.

Thanks for the input. What’s the next big meme to get into, machine learning?

I didn't need a masters either. Or a bachelors. Honestly OP more than anything else, it's all down to this: can you bring Chad to the interview chair?

the big bucks jobs in computer science pretty much require a phd

>software engineering is full
>suggest the even fuller field where if you don't have an in at a firm, you'll be lucky to be somebody's coffee bitch

I know python sql and calculus. I actually use sql to track specific wallets on etherscan. I could learn linear algebra from Ivy League YouTube lectures.

I’m planning on cranking this out in two months:

I enjoy shit like that. Also, for what it’s worth I can get Comptia A+, Net+, and Sec+ certs but most people say those aren’t a big deal nowadays.

I’ve only been brought to the interview chair twice lol. Haven’t looked around too much because of COVID and since crypto took off the past few months.

Its gonna bounce back next month. Idiot

Start your own company you will never make money working for someone else

ML is a subset and has gone the way of data science, a lot of the hard work in ML is being done by the computers now.

I'm currently making sure I have at least a peripheral understanding of all 4IR technology and moving towards systems and process analysis in a big scope holistic sense. There's a lot of folk using fucked deadshit old systems, and that's a few linkies to be made right there user

OP this fit young buck has a bit of knawledge to lend you also, do heed

machine learning engineering is the hot new thing atm. but there should be a lot of emphasis on the "engineering" part of that title. orgs are a little fed-up with data scientist's who can't code. if you aren't some jupyter notebook wielding fag and actually know a thing or two about class oriented programming then you're solid if that knowledge can be merged with solid math/stats/ML/DL.

unless you're getting an AWS certification, don't bother. if you know sql and python then you're solid.

"Build your intellectual capital. I’ve known so many people in my life who have enormous intellectual horsepower, but who were in such a ferocious hurry to get somewhere that they never built their intellectual capital. So when they got to wherever they were hurrying … they had nothing to say beyond the narrow confines of their day job. And they knew it. It’s one of the most disappointing outcomes in life – to be very successful in your chosen field, but to find it AND yourself to be oddly empty. Can you catch up? Can you be a late-in-life learner? Sure. But just like losing 20 pounds on a diet gets exponentially harder the older you get, so does adding meaningfully to your intellectual capital. Build it NOW.

Get your passport stamped. We live in a world of credentials. I’m not saying that’s a good thing or a bad thing. I’m just saying that it IS. The most important credential you can have today is some sort of degree from an elite university. It doesn’t matter if it’s an undergraduate or graduate degree, and I’m not going to argue with anyone about whether a school is “elite” or not. The second most important credential for a young person is a 2+ year stint with an elite institution in an elite city. Again, don’t @ me. There are workarounds and effective substitutes for both of these credentialing mechanisms. But your path will be immeasurably easier if you get your Team Elite passport stamped NOW.

Train your voice. And use it. Again, it’s one of the most disappointing outcomes in life – to know that you’re a creative person, to have something important that’s going to burn you up inside if you don’t share it with the world … but to lack the words or the music or the art to do so. In my experience, the unhappiest people in the world are mute creatives. To paraphrase Langston Hughes, sometimes they shrivel. Sometimes they fester. And sometimes they explode."
