Take the strike price plus the premium you paid and that's what it costs you to take control of the shares. As long as the market price is over that you're green. Ex. Buy 15.50 call for .50, exercising it gets you 100 shares at a cost basis of 16.00, current market price is 17.00, you can sell immediately for 1 profit per share.
