IOTA just released part 1 of 2 on their mainnet and can now handle 1000 tps. As we speak its the most scalable and fastest network in the space. Part 2 is due for October/November and will be a complete gamechanger!

Smart contracts will be implemented in IOTA 2.0. You can program in any language. There is no real SC 'language'. They designed it as a SC interface library that pretty much looks the same in any programming language you want to use. They started out with Rust because that one supports Wasm the best, but Go is not far behind.

Nano can only send value transactions. IOTA is a data protocol that can send value and zero value data transactions. They are not comparable at all. IOTA is going to be the only Fee-less, scalable, secure, and decentralized crypto out there. All within 5-8 months from now. Load your bags now because it will be the backbone of IOT.
As a developer, hearing that they started with Rust makes me rock hard.

Here's the link to their mainnet tangle explorer. It currentry vaires somewhere in the double digit range simply because there is not more transacrions being sent over the newwork. It can easily process +1,000 ctps at 100% comfirmation rate in less than 10sec at this stage though. There will be a spam event soon, where you can see the full performance with peak ctps. I'll share the details in another thread once a date and time has been set for the event to take place. Zig Forums is invited to oversee or try to break the network at any time.
