I spent 6 goddamn years of my life getting a bachelor's degree in microbiology, and the only jobs in my fucking STATE for my degree pay less than fucking COSTCO!
Don't do college kids, all they do is shill false promises. I am a pretty good microbiologist, but it turns out that that degree isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
It's all lies. Every word they tell you in school. College does NOT guarantee a stable life. It doesn't even help with that.
I'm not saying they didn't teach me microbiology, I'm saying that knowing microbiology ain't worth shit.
I spent 6 goddamn years of my life getting a bachelor's degree in microbiology...
>I went to libtard brainwashing camp and sucked the teacher's dick
>I deserve a good job!
What state are you in? Try relocating to where they focus on pharmaceuticals?
San Diego is a hot bed and is constantly hiring.
You have to network in any field. You don’t just job hunt the day you graduate. You should have had multiple connections lined up during your senior year.
Move to a city then. Microbiology pays a lot at medical research facilities. Besides, you're supposed to go to college for things that pay well and for things that you enjoy. It has to be a blend, or else you'll end up miserable.
Graduated with a computer science degree 2 years ago and been washing dishes since
I was told that STEM would be different, and I do actually have skill in microbiology.
I got my B.S in biology and started working a neuroscience lab for a prominent university making $12.00 less than 27k a year... now I’m an EMT and raked in 69k last year in the same exact area with a 6-month certification.. college is a fucking joke unless you plan on going to grad school immediate after. A bachelors in anything STEM that isn’t engineering is a financial death sentence.
>anything STEM that isn’t engineering
Unfortunately even engineering is shit salary. You make more than me as an EMT (but work way harder)
>just move to hell
This sounds like applying for a mob job
I am way to autistic for that. That's why I went to college in the first place: I can't socialize, so I need to sell my brains instead.
Yo college is not something that makes you money, the good ones teach you how to learn fast, really fast. You have to apply that skill to novel technology and voila, you get upwards 120k out of college, if you are too dumb to start your own business. Op is dumb
>t. Is reinforcement learning man
I live in a flyover state and make $20/hour to micropipette and centrifuge all day. The jobs are out there but this is probably the worst time in the last 2 decades to look for them, lol
>12.00/hr working in a lab
uhm i make than that as a dishwasher at a local bar, what the fucking is going on is college useless?
If not already you should be extremely active on LinkedIn, and if I were you I'd be looking all over the country ready and willing to relocate for a higher salary.
move out of Mississippi champ...
My sympathies user.
I did a biochem degree before going back for CS, and now CS is saturated too. The working class are crabs in a bucket on our way to the bottom.
Anyways, don't feel obligated to stick with what you study. I picked up a basic sales job for a tech company and make more $70k, more than many entry level devs now (the 100k starting salaries are a lie outside of the bay area). Now that you're done school, consider it a new horizon where you aren't obligated to be barricaded in a lab 5 hours/day anymore.
I want your job. I can pipette and centrifuge in my fucking sleep, and $20 is way more than the stingy (((people))) here will pay.
phd in molecular biology and virology - same shit
Can you create phages to eradicate my mycoplasma infection? Antibiotics all failed me.no researcher has tried to create phages for mycoplasmas
are you me? i did a grad in biopharmacy and i cant find a job for the past 2 years and just applied to go back for med school since theres more work for them, but idk man at the age of 26 having to go thru med school...its all so tiresome...future so grim....parents disappointed, kinda sad ;_;
Yes. That's the whole point of this thread.
>A bachelors in anything STEM that isn’t engineering is a financial death sentence.
Even eng isn't a sure bet anymore. My friends in aero and civ were super smart and many are unemployed.
I’ll pay you when I make it (srs)
Montana Actually.
Yes, if I had several Million dollars of lab equipment.
There’s your problem. Unfortunately you’re probably going to have to move to a real city for work in your line
You are too smart for this board user, get out.
Tired is exactly the word I use. I was in the national guard during my first degree, worked all the way through my second.
I just want financial security. Clown world bros.
jesus fucking christ really? Im a tinbasher who installs steel flashing around the outsides of buildings, so basically a total blue collar construction job with very little barrier to entry. I get paid $29/hr with a $1-2/hour raise every year, and after I get my full red seal next year I immediately get bumped up to $37/hr (a red seal isn't really required for my job, but I get paid to go to school for it in the winter and it's a guaranteed raise).
How do these companies get away with paying guys like you with respectable degrees so little? That just seems criminal to me
Same, I make $13.50 as a cook
I think the college bubble is unironically popping
It won't pop in truth until the normies/laggards figure out that college is empirically a bad value proposition and demand for university drops below the studentloan-inflated price floor, but damn if there's anything that this board is good at it's not necessarily being smart but being early
science jobs don't pay shit, you have to be in engineering to make the money
I make 15 an hr and get overtime and my job is easy as fuck, the machine does all the work
imagine getting in debt to make less than a drug addict like me who dropped out in 8th grade
I'm happy with it honestly, it's such an easy job I have time and energy to dedicate to my side stuff. I live in Michigan where you only make good money in automotive/engineering or as a Pajeet in healthcare babysitting negros.
Looked into pharama companies? Even sales?
>Went to law school
>Made 70k first year
>Make 90k now and soon will be in six figures
i thought the meme was there was too many lawyers over saturated market
I am 19 years old.
Wanted to stop being a neet and find work to
save up money for college.
I went to a pretty good school in Gemany and my grades are average.
Applied to lots of promising career jobs that you dont need a degree for since you're learning for 3 years and get paid for working at the same time.
>Denied by all of them
Looks like I'll have to wagecuck.
Even if I save up money "better job" oppertunities won't come my ways since I wont be able to erase my wage cuck legacy and they will laugh at me.
Don't know what else to do though
help
Yeah, the truth is unraveling. The shiz society sold us reeks. Buy flow
Microbio sounds like a good idea but to be honest it’s dumb. Might as well go try to start a company you’re wasting time otherwise
