my university offered remote classes for people "uncomfortable" with returning to campus
so i just canceled my housing agreement and saved $5,000 at the cost of living with my psychotic parents

the vast majority of classes were basically already online. nobody disinterested in online classes ever enrolled.
i didnt even bother flying out because it was obvious that they were going to send us all back anyway

you've just got to get through it user, they were my worst years too, but they'll be over. just accept you have to work & do not much else and you'll be ok. try to see the interest & relevance of your subjects beyond the assessment. accumulate link and you'll be in a better position than most. good luck fren

Professors get in almost 100% through nepotism, so you need to know people. You also need to be published, a fucking lot. You have to constantly dick suck the heads of departments, and even if you cup the balls there's probably thousands of other people going for that same single position
Academia is also now in a weird state of self-destruction. I guarantee most new hires are gonna be women or poc. One of my professors who was a total bro actually told me it might e hard for me in particular (white dude) in this "climate"
