How many people here can program and actually have a decent enough pedigree to maybe attract VC money? I.e. top-50 school and/or FAANG or tier-2 tech employment history. I’ve always wanted to do something like Y-Combinator, but they hate solo founders and the only people I trust enough to start something with don’t have a good enough background for a braindead VC to like.
I’d say I’m tier 2 (top ~30 school, tier 2/3 company). Recently passed Google technical interviews but failed in team matching.

5 year developer here user, but I like to trade and gamble shit coins instead. I shill shit to newfags to keep my gains and hide my long term holds. Go all in on pnk promise big return.
Yeah me too, but I almost have enough to “retire” and I really want to build something.
What's your idea user?
Basically using cluster analysis by location and common interests cross-referenced with available local spaces and availability to set up events/meetups — like meetup.com but automatic and immediate with small groups instead of planning days/weeks in advance with too many people to be intimate. I don’t want to say the long-term monetization strategy because there are multiple options that may or may not work and they would have to be tested out during a secondary release after the initial user base was built in a test city.
Interesting idea user... It's hard to believe something like this hasn't been attempted at some point already though. Do you know of any "competitors"? Have you started developing anything?
From link or just gambling on what’s hyped here on biz?
On a larger scale, Facebook Events already does this. On a small scale, it is done via group message.
My thoughts too... Just curious to see if OP has done any actual research or if he's another, "oh I have a 'unique' app idea!"
save yourself to the time. those are money laundering operations to give money to their jew friends, families and associates.
why do you think despite the billions circulating, they never produce anything?
I made a prototype a few years ago before I graduated and had to start working, but I’m a much better developer now and would want to trash it and rebuild. From talking with other yuppies it seems like they didn’t consider it useful because they had no problems starting/maintaining a social life, so that’s a possible reason for it not existing yet. Competitors are basically any prescheduled events site like meetup or eventbrite. Google bought a startup that was doing something similar a few years back, but it was mostly a talent acquisition thing as it was failing — they didn’t understand that the events can’t have exactly 2 people because it will scare away women, so it was effectively just a weird speed dating platform.
From Numerai. I have a working model that nets 3-4% a week.
Facebook events is only manually created events, and group message requires knowing the people already. This is about de novo social event and circle generation.
I've worked at Google and Facebook. Is this a thing? I suspected it to be the case where if you pitch anything, you can get VC money, especially with all the braindead projects in the crypto space and the braindead companies that I've been seeing.
>buying at the complacency stage
Before I built the prototype I checked for existing history and did a test google ads run for email signups/interest. Everyone is just another ideas guy until the execution is done. I at least have the ability to execute.
If you have multiple people with the “right” background you can get around a quarter million thrown at you, yeah.
That said I’m also down for working on someone else’s idea or a different one; I’m just bored as shit and want to build something. Will probably go to grad school otherwise.
Interesting concept.
>Basically using cluster analysis by location and common interests cross-referenced with available local spaces and availability to set up events/meetups
Sounds like you'll need to link to Facebook for common interests at least.
If you know crypto then make a bot that notices arbitrage opportunities and uses flash loans to take advantage of them. Some good money to be made. Some transaction made $46k the other dat using a $100k flash loan and the cost was only like 3 ETH in gas or something.
I already have enough money. I unironically want to help people like the faggot I really am inside. It’s either this or more education so I can work on home robotics to try and get rid of the need for in-home manual labor.
Yeah, the MVP took manual input during setup, but if people weren’t too spooked by privacy concerns scraping it from some existing Facebook or other social media account would be more seamless.

Did gone through similar conundrum. Sorry but current SV startup looks saturated. If you really curious, I would study (I’m user) biotech and nanobiitech. Immediately I can deploy some money to exciting biotechs (look at Optune) or help one building. Software is saturated, biotechs where smartest mind should go to even if feels like Wild West of crypto, it’s basically 70s PA all over again.
>Pedigree
I didnt even finish school and I am tech lead OP, titles are a joke
I know, but VCs are braindead trust fund kids that only recognize buzzwords and brand names.
Fair enough.
now do china
>I unironically want to help people
The best solution I've found so far is if everyone was taught or realized the self is an illusion. Most of society's problems stem from the ego. What is socializing with an ingroup going to change? People have always done this and it creates more distance toward outgroups.
It’s more cross-pollination than they would get otherwise.
I’m aiming lower on the hierarchy of needs than what you’re talking about.
If you truly care about people think of a way to help those who don't have the bottom two layers. Maybe a volunteering app where people help low income families in some way. Like kickstarter but with actions rather than money.
And ironically what I'm talking about would lead to helping the lowest of the pyramid. The ultra-rich would hoard less money. We have the resources for everyone to be adequately fed at the very least.
You could aim towards children. They will be the next generation and if taught the right values, a future society would benefit.
top 40 uni, FAANG, crypto millionaire (not multi though), 25 y/o
no larp.
more fun to just gamble on shit coins desu senpai.
anyone that can read and a supply of uppers can code.
ok mr smartypants, now show side by side images of the leading cities
