Because the vast majority of people do not have a basic understanding of what capitalism is.
For example they unironically think that Jeff Bezos has 200 billions in the bank, they don't understand that he has 200 billions in assets, companies, propreties (things that make the economy run).
Of course with such a faulty way of looking at it, you may think that capitalism is extremely unfair because Bezos is sitting on a fortune while many people struggle to pay their bills in America, truth is, Bezos is giving more money to Americans than anyone else

Some people are extremely jealous of those who are better off.
They hate what they can't get, this is why so many people hate things that are good, it took me a while to understand this, how people could hate things that are good and have a positive impact on the world, for a while it left me puzzled.
For example : a radical feminist will hate a strong united family, she will pretend that she hates it because it fosters patriarcal ideas, and for a while, I believed it was the real reason.
The truth is, she hates it because it is an ideal she knows she will never meet, for all that she can get is a weak husband that no woman would want to keep. She hates it because when something seems unattainable and you are weak of character, you won't strive to reach it. All that is left for you is to hate it.

if you stay teacher long enough you do eventually get 100k a year too lol. In your 60s-70s, they get guaranteed raises every year + all the benefits. The only teachers that actually have a tough time are private school teachers for cheap schools. They get paid like 20k a year and the parents get pissy because they think cuz they spend 4 thousand dollars their kid should be a genius.

In the material sense though, I don't think most people in their 20's realize they actually have mostly everything they want or could need in order to be happy. I know so many people in their 20's who still live at home, pay for nothing other than gas and fast food, had their parents pay for college and so forth.

Even in a nice suburb area 100k is a bit of an outlier, but retiring teachers for sure can make about 80k. Not bad for only working 10 months out of the year and having tons of holidays and breaks.
