People were fixated on the fact that LP was the preeminent node operator staking solution, and missed the fact that DeFi was in the process of providing dozens of alternatives.
LINK holders don't care about whether it's "proper" staking or not, they just care about returns.

Linkpool investors believe that they were able to not only choose the best asset class (crypto) and the best instrument in that asset class (link), but also the best operator of said instrument (linkpool).

Staking rewards will be higher and more consistent than yield farming or whatever APY you can find, especially from a node like LinkPools.

Defi staking and node staking are two completely different things.

One LP token now resells for $48k. I wouldn't call this "wrong".
