tfw I had a jewish 1st grade teacher who taught us all to read backwards as a joke in our small town until parents found out and took action to chase the teacher out of the school.
This was in the early 90s, catch up with people from that year every now and then and we all still read things backwards as default when we are tired or worn down.

Though in truth it might explain my strong affinity for themes like you mentioned. I make an effort to ignore things of the occult because there's this passionate fire inside me that always needs to read or see more about it. Did some stupid things connected to it in the past, paid for it dearly.
