I accidentally basically pocket dialed a purchase of over 8,000$ worth of a coin on Coinbase from my bank account. This was an overdraft purchase. I freaked out and immediately sold for USD and tried to send back to my bank but couldn’t and in a panic accidentally deposited an additional 8000.
So at this point it shows 16,000 in USD but I can’t withdrawal any of it back to my account. The funds showed up but my bank account only has a few K in it... I end up transferring all my 7000 USD to my bank account that night from my Coinbase Pro portfolio that night to be able to cover some of the mistake I made.
I call my bank account and they say they can block the payments but it would create a dispute with Coinbase so I was suggested to let the payments go through and be rejected and pay an overdraft fee. Fine. But now Coinbase said I owed them money Or they would garnish my crypto for it. I made the payment from my Coinbase USD wallet and now I have under 8k. However I cannot send the remainder of my USD back to my bank account and the 7k I had withdrew to my bank from CB pro the other night showed up in my statement but does not reflect my balance and I still only have a few k in my account.
Can somebody please explain what happened? I’m not sure if I was just robbed.... will I ever be able to transfer the remainder of my funds back to my bank account? My hope is that I can’t send it yet because it hasn’t fully processed or whatever
