he's trying to max link gains while lowering other gains to make staking and the vault more appealing which should, at least in theory, lower the supply floating around and put upwards pressure on the price.

can the balancer tokens you're staking even be borrowed against anywhere?
there's no reason to expect the 2/98 pools to be actively traded in quantities enough for significant fee generation long term in my opinion. again, i could be wrong. someone please make me look stupid if i am.

well why should link tokens be worth more staked? shouldnt it be calculated based on the fee generation from the balancer and whatever other schemes are done with the staked money?

I believe balancer helps to facilitate it. Balancerpajeets arbitrage the values, connect the pools to uniswappajeets, and additionally there are a host of exchangepajeets and ecosystempajeets (think DAIpajeets, ETHpajeets, Binancepajeets & more BalancerPajeets) that use this liquidity. It's highly incentivized to use that liquidity.
