Here is the thing most people don't realize though. Do you seriously believe every single human is doing the highest obtainable job they could do? Probably not. What will happen when some of these people lose their jobs is they will retrain themself, gain new skills, and then move into another job, maybe higher skilled than the last. What will happen as an effect is the labor supply will swell. Every job will have higher competition.
Working any job right now is pretty humiliating. You are basically helping assemble a machine that is designed to kill you. The work you contribute to companies will be used to earn them wealth. That wealth will be used to fund research to automate your job and end your bloodline. The rich just hope no one notices this is the biggest threat and they just need to keep everyone occupied for the next 40 years. I see so many people in white collar jobs saying "lmao, dude they can't automate my job." They fail to realize that having a machine drive a car isn't that much less complex than managing an office or business operations. Your only hope is basically becoming a part of the ownership class. That is why you should invest, your life may very well depend on it. I really hope that I am being pessimistic, but it really seems like people's heads are in the sand. I see a lot of people jumping for joy that certain jobs are being automated, failing to realize that they will be next and the people above them will jump for joy when they get automated. Sick world, stupid people.

Yeah, as a kid this is what I imagined. However, I think people thought unions would still exist or something at this point. To a large extent they don't now. I also saw something that people are less likely to unionize when they are in an area/working with lots of other racial groups.

This is not a problem because declining native birthrates mean fewer human jobs are necessary for economic growth. Birthrates decline, fewer labourers mean higher wages, higher wages mean greater automation, and the whole system steadily adjusts over time. The end result is a small, environmentally viable population doing high value work and getting paid very well in a strong economy, with a vast amount of low value work done by machines.
It's only a problem if you have mass immigration and/or welfare systems that incentivise pumping out large numbers of poorly parented kids.
