I would probably look for industry specific certifications that can be done online. There’s probably some organization in your industry that focuses on further education, best practices, research, etc.

any of them that are highly reviewed will get you there. several of them have 30+ hours of content. once you learn the language you can start exploring associated frameworks to build pretty robust applications.

python is always good to start. i am a java software engineer but even where I work (JP Morgan Chase) we have many python developers.

My short term goal is simply to work from home, my long term goal is to escape wage slavery in general. Whatever path can get me to that the quickest is what I'd like to take. I have a bachelors in mechanical engineering and some basics of python down.

go to a coding boot camp. you have an engineering degree, you are guaranteed to get hired. i'd say coding boot camps are hit or miss, but i can very certain a decent company will scoop you up. you'll be below market rate but after 2-3 years you will be comfy making fuckin tinder bitches every night like me. i also drive a tesla and where nice shoes
