The United States has had a declining standard of living via de-industrialization and globalization for decades IE stagnant wages but the feeling of the middle class has been supplemented with low interest rates, debt and cheap slave labor goods. That's coming to an end now that rates are at zero, debt is too much and Chinese people are becoming the dominant middle and consumer class. There will be a finance reset in our lifetime where the U.S has a sovereign debt crisis and the U.S will have to return to actually producing and exporting goods if it wants to remain a dominant power throughout the world.
