i live in a hoarder's house so the usable footprint is that of a tiny house but it's more of a maze than an open floorplan so i do not recommend it

You cannot raise a family in these things. So the fact that these are being marketed to millennials is telling

Tiny houses are for people that got C's in high school, went to uni for "communication studies", then decided to become real estate agents afterward.

Literally media shilled copium for normie brainlets

Well, it's the same as living in a trailer park, just more marketable and trendy

I used to live in a 44 sqft house for about 3 years ama

Long island?

This shit looks bigger than my apartment, it's nothing but tiny

No, california

bump

You may find yourself living in a shotgun shack

Lived in tiny houses for 5 years. Finally pooled resources to build a larger house. From building my own shelter, here's some tips. Throw away/sell 85% of your useless shit. Two things out of place in a tiny home makes it feel cluttered. If you live in a decent climate, build an outdoor space to allow for more movement, assuming you own the land. Power as much as you can to usb to save on your solar system (not too hard with today's tech). If you live in a cold/snowy climate, pray you're not claustrophobic.

For reference, my last cabin was about 300 sq ft, smaller than most pre-fab tiny homes

One last thing, everything should have built-in storage or serve more than one purpose from a utility perspective

I live in a 500 sqft apartment with 3 other people. Does that count?

i think my house qualifies as a small house. its a crib/batch you have to pay cash for. its about 50m from the ocean. pic attached isnt my house but my house is about 40% larger than that.

small house is easier to maintain than a larger house. granted, we don't have kids so if that happens, it's going to be a challenge.

generally, you want the best deal but you dont want to live in a shit neighbourhood. small house is a bonus too, less likely to be burgled when nicer houses are nearby.

important thing with living in unorthodox or secluded houses arent the size but the upkeep. we had to dig trenches in the backyard due to a flood risk, we (husbando) has to clear out the roof water gutters periodically and we have to reverse osmosis our own water. owning a home of any size requires regular maintenance so the key is foreseeing and repairing potential problems before they get out of hand.

it's about 60 min drive from here to the nearest city and 20 min to the nearest town. i feel like i have the best of all worlds but i dont mind having no nosey neighbours :)

get out! i lived w my in-laws for 8 months and they are hoarders....mould, coughing etc fucking gross!

Similar footprint to a trailer, but because they're stick-built instead of being mass produced oversize RVs they don't depreciate like a trailer. Also, just by virtue of being trendy and expensive, they don't have the social stigma.

Bump for disgusting living conditions.

Used to live in a tiny apartment. Had a small living room which I never used, so would be even smaller without that. New apartment is a bit bigger. Not because I wanted it bigger, just because that's all I could find. I have barely any stuff and I have no friends/gf, so I don't have any need for more space.

I could do this as a single guy if it’s at least 600sqft anything smaller and it’s to claustrophobic. If you could build a modular one then it’s really not a bad idea. Overtime you can build additions to the point where it’s just as functional as a regular home.

Are you home yet?

600 is good for a single dude. I'm chilling in closer to 700 right now and it's fine.

I would just make the layout less retarded and prefer to have some sort of garage/basement.

that place looks pretty comfy
how much does it cost and how close is it to other p*ople?

I plan to buy 25-40acres and build one for my family, then additional smaller ones for my boys bedrooms later.

That's a man

not really, trailer parks are usually full of white people and relatively nice lol. also trailers, even small ones, have more space than most apartments xD. never lived in one, but i'm always surprised when i have to go into them, just how big/nice many of them are.
