I've only gotten into active investing this year. I've previously just been dumping money into 401ks and a Roth IRA.
I saw pic related about diversified portfolios and noticed that US REITs consistently do pretty well and started looking into them.
The price of a lot of REITs cratered during the crash earlier this year and then just flatlined.
REITs are real estate investment though and it's not like their physical assets disappeared.
Are their values going to spike right back to pre-pandemic levels within the next year or 2 or am I just fundamentally misunderstanding something here?

I promise you don't want to do it, military overall isn't worth it right now unless you're special operations. You'd be an officer and probably on something like USS Mercy (I think, I'm army so I'm not too certain). A good portion of our medical personnel are getting pulled from hospitals and replaced by civilians anyway, you might just get stuck in an admin role. If it's still something you're interested in then I'd do a lot more research, esp into what direction things are moving. Lastly, please tell me that screenshot isn't yours.
I’m thinking about scooping up REITs as well. Starting with medical based ones. Because of all the trump bucks and hopefully more trump bucks coming property is going to rocket in value, one of the sleeping factors for REITs right now is the fact inflation is making all property worth more dollars. This with the fact they have flatlined seems like a good buying opportunity assuming we don’t have a housing crisis in the near future. Seems unlikely as the Fed, fed govt, and peivate companies continue to buy up more and more land/property-and they won’t let prices crash on themselves. So even if you buy a shitload of REIT and a crisis comes, I will thank the stars and buy as much as I can, property isn’t getting any more available in the longterm.

Hi, /smg/ I asked here about the stimulus payment and I got some kind advice. Essentially, I used the non-filers tool back in April, but it turns out I accidentally clicked "can be filed as a dependent" when in reality I cannot and was not. I called the IRS and the lady wasn't very helpful. She said I could change it but apparently it can't be edited once it was submitted. Am I SOL for my $1200?
