Started an online dispensary that ships Canada wide. I am trying to grow it but because it's a grey market I am running into a lot of difficulties. I've been doing marketing for years but never for something like this. Does anyone have experience in grey market advertising? Instagram won't even let me get to 30 followers before b& and i'm having to use old burner phones and vpn. Any advice or tips is appreciated. TY

This is not grey market user. Unless you have the licenses your illegal so you need to be reading up on opsec and doing your sales on the dark markets

In Canada it is technically illegal yes, but grey because they aren't really cracking down on them while they figure everything out. Each province has it's own rules. My point is i've never advertised this industry so not sure how to go about starting with all the restrictions

When they decide they have the time and resources to begin pursuing illicit operations for tax avoidance you are going to be the first batch of people they go for.

can't you just advertise on weedmaps? if not look into blackhat facebook marketing, there are ways to bypass facebooks ad screening

yes, also looking to grow organically. its a legit business and it's not sketchy in canada. it's only because most ad networks are american based there is difficulty. I can advertise on adobe DSP no problem. Any ideas on how to bypass the ad screening on fb?

I'm sorry OP. I have loads of operational and facilities experience but marketing isn't my thing. We never advertised any of our black market flower and on the rec side we just hired a marketing department. Best of luck to you friend.

now that weed is becoming accepted, the price is falling fast and hard
you need to have a lot of testing and all sorts of inspection and quality control
the market is getting flooded with producers, and the shit grows like a weed
bad business move getting into weed at this time

sales are still high (no pun intended) especially covid people want to order online and shipped.

You need to get out of growing and into something ancillary these margins are about to die

Well I know you gotta play by the IG rules or account is gonna get banned. You can always appeal though, usually they make you remove the offending content but sometimes you're banned by a competitor "report" and there is no offending content.

General rules are:

-Don't advertise that you have goods for sale
-Don't reference shipping
-No prices posted on IG (you can however link to your site that has pricing.)
-Other sort of common sense shit

Basically treat it like you are running a lifestyle brand. Show off your product, facility etc. IG is for generating traffic to your site, not for making sales in weed.

yes i've got a fairly large team... just working on getting more orders so i can scale. it's hard to get the momentum going especially when all your marketing is an uphill battle and trying to learn all these niche rules.
