I just stopped, had a seizure, they asked me if I had been taking my meds, I told them no because I hate the way they make me feel. I had to get back on and taper off. Every week I would take a lower dosage. I was only on them for about a year. You were born in them, molded by them. I simply adapted to them. Your doctor will help you when the time is right.

Could try tapering down by doing 1mg 2x a day and slowly reduce dosage over time. An alternative like I mentioned earlier is to switch to a benzo with a longer half life. Other than Diazepam there is Clonazepam (Klonopin) which effects I hear lasts all day, not sure about it's half life though.
