From what I understand however the integration with arbitrum would leverage link nodes even for non link related operations so it would be a bigger win if it came out on top, not sure how Optimism handles validation?

What's really exciting is thinking about how fixing the gas issue will then allow teams to redirect funds to real development, ie synthetix will soon launch real assets synths like tesla and apple as their pilot, once this starts happening soon enough there will be hundreds of them and a shitload more demand for link nodes... while basically costing the same thing a few calls cost right now.
Then even if you stay away from uniswap shitcoins it's undeniable this is going to kick start a whole new phase of defi craze, which is gonna be good for the whole ecosystem.
