Is it stupid to invest in too many stocks as a small time investor? I'm currently looking at putting together a well diversified portfolio to hold long term. The thing is though, I always end up with like 40 different stocks. I have the money to do it, and I feel fairly confident in the long-term prospects of those companies, it just seems like a large number, especially when comparing it to some of the portfolios posted in /smg/. I also think it would far outperform SPY, and likely QQQ as well while being more diversified.
