He refuses to do anything with it though, and just lets it sit in his bank account. My mom doesn't care about it either. They just fall asleep in front of the TV every night like typical old boomers. They basically act like their life is over so it doesn't matter what they do now.
Is this normal to be like this? I thought everyone would be investing money like that, such as in property, but when I ask them about that they just say
>oh we can't be bothered, you know X? they got an investment properties and they have so much trouble with it, we can't be bothered dealing with that, we're too old!
my mom inherited 50k and threw it into a savings account that pays like 0.01% interest per year. I nagged her about it for literally an entire year before she put it into a local credit union that pays 3%. Jesus.
Adrian Taylor
that savings precent changes on a banks whim, I'd check in again because it's probably .02 again
Isaiah Cook
My mom has 700k in a 4% fund in USD. I tried about 30 times explaining the Federal reserve to her and how they abandon the 2% inflation target this year, and how it's time to move the funds and she gets angry like I'm trying to swindle her. Talking numbers and logic with women is wasting your time.
Dominic Walker
Then just tell them to buy bonds and CD’s. I mean they could die before they mature but you don’t have to worry about checking anything
Levi Diaz
Tell them to out it all into fucking VOO or some shit. It's retarded to keep that in the bank. They don't need to invest it into fucking properties, just out it somewhere to grow as passive income. God I fucking hate boomers. I hope you're larping, OP, but at the same time I know you aren't because boomers are fucking retarded.
Cameron Gutierrez
>They just fall asleep in front of the TV every night like typical old boomers. They are living the dream zoomer. Some day you will get it.
Joshua Harris
Probably planning to die and give it to you.
Charles Hall
Tell that faggot to throw 100k at desire.finance and wait a year lmfao
Nicholas Phillips
Inherit it when they die in an unfortunate boating accident.
Brayden Butler
They're old, they have plenty of resources to live out the rest of their lives and they don't need to worry about what it'll be worth in 30 years. It will also be easier to transfer to the estate after they die.
Dylan Myers
At least convince them to put it into DMM for 6%. (then push for DMG after they trust you)
Jonathan King
it's their money, let them do what they want with it, literally why care about other peoples shit?
Daniel Edwards
That means you're 40 or 50. Isn't past your bedtime grandpa?
Chase Hill
If they're on a fixed income thing until death putting it in a life insurance policy would be much better than not doing anything at all. That way OP could avoid inheritance tax and they all can have peace of mind on the agreement.
Jacob Fisher
boomers are scum of the earth I told my dad to buy bitcoin when it was $5 dollars he got so upset with me called me an idiot basically pressured me out of bitcoin flash forward to $1500 BTC he's all about crypto because his boomer brother said it was interesting Last night I made a joke about him owing me 10% since I'm his money manager he told me I was a horrible money manager and I don't know shit brought up the past >That never happened user I told you about bitcoin I teach him about liquidity pools since this nigger now has probably a million in crypto and could make money with >this is a fucking ponzi casino user next day I'm trying to relax >user can you show me how to do yeild farming Boomtuber was saying it's the next great thing Sorry for the rant but I'm salty AF

Camden Ross
You sound like a shitty son who comes from shitty parents. Probably comes several hundred generations of shitty ancestors
Kevin Lewis
yeah pretty much
Jordan Sullivan
$5 coin? Why didn't you buy any?
I was into bitcoin since then but didn't start stacking seriously until 2015. I remember back then I brought up bitcoin to the IT guy at his office and he said it was a scam and my dad listened to the IT guy.
So since then I made about 1.5m, but I just can't bring myself to relax and settle down. My dad is confused as to why I'm bitter with the world, and why I don't cash out and join a country club. I want to kick off a technology renaissance utilizing distributed consensus technology.
I despise full of shit boomers at country clubs content with their little fake bubble.
Elijah Rivera
I did not much cause I was broke as fuck and going to college because >If you're gonna live under my roof you're gonna at least make something of yourself.but you have to pay for it
Boomers will listen to everyone except their kids about money even if it means missing out on millions I too despise them I don't have that much but I'm doing ok as a forex trader so I'm just gonna go hermit mode and bounce between japan and whatever I can find in the midwest away from cities
Samuel Jenkins
It was a bit sketchy back then too. All we had really were mt. gox and bitinstant. secured on web wallets, paper wallets, armory was a dank wallet back then.
The community has grown so much it's absolutely crazy to think about.
James Carter
yeah shit's really changed since then everything is so easy now I can do everything on my phone pretty much
and yeah I agree I'm glad it's finally starting to get some traction
Isaac Hill
her CU had a guarantee of 1 year at that rate, but that was probably 2 years ago so you're right, it's probably at 0.02 kek
Bentley Russell
You got to address their concerns, usually old people don't care about doubling their money, they just want to have enough so that they don't die in a ditch because they couldnt pay their medical bills. You can try to convince them to invest half into something thats low risk, but you gotta do some proper research and be able to answer all of their questions. If you want to go with property, perhaps a parking would be a good idea. Look up the prices around you, it can generate some nice cash and it's super low maintenance
Nathaniel Watson
>inheritance >70yo boomer dad
Aren't you a little sad your grandma/great aunt/other 90yo relative died?
Boomers are basically the spawn of the generation that were the guinea pigs for the nuclear family experiment, and thus have some warped understanding of how they should treat their kin. Once you reach the arbitrary age of 18 you mean jackshit to your parents besides superficiality or at worse parasitic "I cared for you therefore you are indebted to me" shit. They don't see you as some sort of effort of love or an investment for the future or whatever, they see you as a liability at first and a complete stranger later (an inferior stranger at that. ageism without the familial elder wisdom is you being a metaphorical age-nigger; this is why they don't listen to you or offer any advice beyond telling you to fuck off). It wouldn't be until a couple of generations later until people don't even bother with the "liability" and just kill fetuses before they leave the womb. This is why I cringe at "conservatives" that act like the 50s is some golden age: it was the beginning of the end in many respects, especially when it comes to family. The only real type of family is the extended family; with grandmothers, uncles, cousins, etc. Notice how all the powerful people are in big families, with all the nepotism that involves. The modern family of the pleb is about as legitimate as a slaves' family, that is easily ripped at the whim of the master selling the husband wife or child away. It only exists to pump out new (wage)slaves or tax cows.
Christopher Perez
I guess we've all been MK-Ultra'd in a sense. What upsets me is when I speak about my dad's extended family reconciling or me using my money to purchase a retreat for all of us to form strong bonds he dismisses the idea as hippy bullshit. They're unable to deprogram it's sad.
John Miller
4% is pretty good
Asher Sanchez
lol makes sense I always said there was a reason powerful families but anytime I wanna work together on something with any of my family I get the boomer adage >the only ship that doesn't sail is a partnership
John Thompson
They should put it in mutual funds which return 10%-12% annually. They could go on a $10,000 vacation every year and still make money.
