Arb bots aren't causing the dumps. People selling do. Bots slowly bleed coins but that's about it.

I've read the article on medium but I still can't grasp it. So the bot takes a rare currency pair that doesn't get rooted through ETH/DAI/MKR/... and makes a triangular arbitrage trade. Does the bot wait for price inconsistencies? Because without inconsistencies I don't see how he can make this happen. Also how does the bot overcome slippage and large drawdowns due to bigger sells?

yes, it waits for prices to desync thanks to uniswap's routing mechanism

one of the main reasons the bot is able to do what it does is because of high liquidity, and thus low slippage, in unprivileged pools. this is why the DFOhub devs' are incentivizing the migration of as much liquidity as possible out of unprivileged pairs into privileged ones. by increasing slippage in unprivileged pairs, this is preventing bots from finding profitable arbitration paths via those pairs. i've been watching the latest transactions, and the solution appears to be working as more liquidity migrates
