Not only are they going to tackle the mental health industry, which pharma companies have failed to address because their synthetics have introduced so many more problems that an entire generation has developed a phobia towards pills. this is going to sprout an entirely new cognitive industry. if anyone has tripped before, that clarity you sensed and indescribable understanding of inner-connectedness with the universe. THAT is what they are going after without the effects of walls melting and tasting rainbow colors. Picture this... you want to learn a new language but you can't focus for shit. Today, they would prescribe you Adderall and that might tune your focus but it'll produce some side-effects as well from dependency, drowsiness and/or general fatigue and it's still gonna take you a fuck load of time to learn anything at all. Fast forward a few years... you still want to learn a new language. However now, thanks to mushrooms, you can take a supplement that increases memory retention 10x, removes dependency and fatigue and allows tens of thousands of new synapses to connect in your brain, all within a fraction of the time.

That’s impossible, and furthermore people don’t do shrooms like they do weed, it’s an occasional treat, not a weekly/regular thing. This is all conjecture anyway and the likelihood of pharmaceutical companies adopting psilocybin shrooms is a long time away because of how little clinical, academic research there is into psilocybin mushrooms.

I've seen a video about using fungus in place of packing foam, using fungus to make a seat, and it's all biodegradable and very cheap. That's quite literally what they are trying to do. Isolate the high from the benefit, grind up the product, package it into a pill, peddle it to doctors. Again, there will be no recreation to this industry. I suppose a recreational psychedelic mushroom market could as a byproduct, sure. But, I don't see that happening for a long, long time and it'll be incredibly niche. It'll depend how it goes in Michigan and Oregon. Still though, that's a deviation from the point here. This isn't a treat. This isn't a trip. And it isn't impossible-- they are pouring millions into R&D to identify and isolate the difference between the trip and the astounding clarity that comes from it. Pharma companies will not need to adopt them because they'll just buyout the companies doing the grunt work now. I only used the language analogy as an example of the learning benefits that could come from breakthroughs, it's only the tip of a truly massive iceberg. For all anyone knows, the striking revelations that come from this research, could be as far out there as popping a pill to fully-understand Chinese for an hour or more.

I think you guys are missing how these will be used. Weed is great because people spend money on it recreationally and use it every day. But mushrooms will have actual uses in medicine, unlike weed where you just have hippies who say "DiD yOU kNoW tHiiS cUrES cAnCeR?!" And it's the use in the medical field that will bring the money. Mushrooms have shown a lot of promise is recent studies for treating mental illnesses such as PTSD and deptession, which are two huge markets.

Of course the market exists? Mental health is teetering on the verge of a full-blown crisis and a lot of people are trying to figure out what the fuck to do about it. So yeah the market exists but it obviously isn't meeting the needs or expectations of the people who could benefit from that market. It's quite clear, synthetic pills just haven't worked. People are still depressed and suicidal, even after being prescribed to X, Y, Z. The R&D that comes from psychedelic mushrooms will blow the roof off the mental health market in it's current state.
