Here's an answer for you. XRP is meant to be used as a go between currency for banks internationally and is meant to replace SWIFT. It is significantly faster, more efficient, and will save the banks money by adopting it. Ripple needs a majority of the banks and the regulations in place in order for this to happen. When the "switch" is flipped the system will go into action. In order to facilitate the amount of money that is moved through the global financial system daily it is absolutely necessary for the value of XRP to increase in order to accomplish its purpose.
