But Core-clones are more profitable because and maybe I'm wrong but if they aren't outright scams then they both work by rewarding earlier investors and discouraging selling

I followed a few and they pumped maybe $100 and then dumped. Also when trying to send the transaction you run into slippage problems . These core clones cannot compete with core’s liquidity.
