Bitcoin is a retarded solution to a real problem. Of COURSE any commodity can be easily hijacked and controlled by people with existing wealth. Creating a new kind of money won't solve the problems with our society. Policies like universal basic income could solve a lot of issues and can be executed without a transition to digital currency. Countries like the United States will always look to technology to solve their problems despite their centuries-old culture being the true culprit that drags millions of people down. We don't need a revolution in tech to free us, we need a revolution in culture and what we think is important (e.g health care for all, elimination of poverty via basic income, etc)
