It's still state capitalism. Party arms control all money in some way or another. This is why they will succeed though. If you mean abandoning communism for American/Global capitalism you couldn't be more wrong. Things are going south way fast and we may see two separate world markets within twenty years. This is the best case scenario for China and worst case scenario for US, and it's all thanks to Xi Jinping Thought.

I wouldn't say that Xi fucked up by jumping the gun. You may be right in that it's too soon, but Xi was reacting to US efforts that would have left them hamstrung. If it doesn't work out for PRC it's because US reacted quickly enough, rather than Xi acting too early.

But I will say that China is in good position to run their own sphere of influence. US can do something about it but won't necessarily cripple China, just create two major spheres of influence. I think China actually following through on Taiwan threats would be flying too close to the sun and could be there demise. A lot of people would have to suffer first though.
