I'm writing a script for a crime drama film about a group of friends that decide to bet their life savings on GameStop stocks. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a disgraced Wall Street financial analyst who is forced to move back to his small midwest town of Ogallala, Nebraska. He reconnects with his high school friends, his best friend/peaked in high school jock quarterback Ryan Gosling and Ryan's Waffle House waitress girlfriend Samara Weaving. And Jonah Hill as Jake's nerdy next door neighbor. After a night of drinking, the four stumble into the idea of betting their life savings by investing in GameStop stocks. The movie follows the lives of these four characters as GameStop stocks gradually plummet, leaving them financially ruined. It's then revealed that Jake Gyllenhaal has been short selling this entire time and has made an insane amount of money, unlike the rest of his friends. Out of a fit of rage and jealousy, Ryan Gosling murders Jake Gyllenhaal for his betrayal. The movie is called When The Game Stops. Directed by Martin Scorsese.

based this is a good twist, especially if the whole time jake gyllenhaal isn't telling them much of any of it so it's a lesson in both the dangers of getting into financial speculation without knowing what you're doing and the dangers of giving away financial advice to people who don't know what they're doing it sets up a tragic twist but the only problem is that there would be no reason for jake gyllenhaal not to tell them really there would be no reason for jake gyllenhall to involve any of them unless they had large amounts of capital and/or jake gyllenhaal's character hates them all in which case why would he give them anything? seconding this, jonah hill needs a cat with a weirdly-shaped head
